JD1 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) Skyrim gets dark way too early for me, is there a way to change it to 8-9 o'clock, like summertime? Also, my nghts are way too dark, I tried to change my .ini file and ENB's files but my nights are still pitch black, what line do I have to edit? :teehee: Edited April 4, 2012 by JD1
Rennn Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 You'll need to edit many lines. Post an ENBseries ini and I'll tell you how to affect night brightness. As to the first question, I remember in Morrowind you could edit the Morrowind.ini to change sunset and sunrise times, but I don't know if Skyrim allows that in its ini files.
JD1 Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Hello Rennn !Yeah I thought about it too, but I looked it up and there's nothing in the skyrimprefs. Rennn Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) These are the four lines you'll want to look at for adjusting night darkness. AmbientLightingIntensityNight=1.825This is standard, "fake" light. It doesn't cast shadows, and it exists everywhere to some extent. It just makes things lighter, but tweaking this alone will make your shadows too light and fade the screen. You will, however, want to increase this a little. PointLightingIntensityNight=1.15This is directed light, such as torches, campfires, spells, and things like that. This is only useful to tweak if you want to adjust fire bloom brightness and things like that, and won't help much in your situation. DirectLightingIntensityNight=0.985From what I can gather, this is "sky" light. It's dynamic light that is projected from a supposed 'light source' like the sun or moon and stars to light the entire region. Obviously in Skyrim it's not really the stars that add light at night, but that's the idea behind this 'sky' light. Having this high, and ambientlightingintensity low will make shadows very deep and colors very rich, but rely on this too much compared to ambient light and you won't be able to see in shadows at all. You'll want balanced tweaking of this along with ambientlightingintensitynight. [bLOOM]AmountNight=0.575Increasing this adds a soft, fuzzy look to your nights while simultaneously making them lighter and more saturated in pastel colors. I don't know just how dark your nights are, and how light you want them, but for testing purposes...Set AmbientLightingIntensityNight=2 DirectLightingIntensityNight=1.5 [bLOOM]AmountNight=0.7 See if that helps. If it's too dark, raise them all slightly. If it's too light, decrease them all slightly. If you get really bad 'tearing' edges around candle lights and things like that, to the point where the game looks like a poor quality gif image, decrease AmountNight of bloom. JD1 Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Wow! I didn't expect such a complete answer. Thank you so much for all the details, very and always helpful, and for future tweaking about my lightning desires hehe. I edited my enbseries.ini file with your testing edit and it turns out very good, I tweaked it a little more and now it's prefect, very appreciated Rennn, thanks!

I believe the command is "set timescale to (1-20)" without the quotations and parentheses Possibly a more simple solution that editing your game files. There's also a longer days mod on the Steam Workshop.
robanybody2000 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 set timescale to 1 - makes timeflow real time (so 1 hour ingame = 1 hour real time).Default timescale is 35. You need to type this at the start of each session as it resets itself uppon exiting the game.
NoobusExtremus Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 set timescale to 1 - makes timeflow real time (so 1 hour ingame = 1 hour real time).Default timescale is 35. You need to type this at the start of each session as it resets itself uppon exiting the game. You can edit the .ini file to make the timescale permanent - mine is set at 6. What the OP is looking for is a way to have more daylight than night. Something like sunrise 6am sunset 9pm. Setting the timescale only makes time go faster; the sun still rises and sets at the same times.
RedRavyn Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 @ robanybody2000: Do NOT set your timescale to "1". This will bug the AIs of various NPCs and was known in Oblivion to actually break quests. Setting it to zero is almost guaranteed to break your game. I use a timescale of "2" unless I'm involved in a time-dependent quest. As an example, leave it at the default "20" (it's not "35" as you said) when you're starting the game, rather than set it very low,. If you don't then very strange things will be happening with NPCs when you get to Riverwood too early because they won't be in the places they have to be and won't move to those places until their appointed times. I wait until we reach Riverwood to set the timescale down so I get there in the mid-afternoon or early evening when everyone is where they're supposed to be.. By the way, I don't have to reset the timescale every time I start my game, and I've never changed it in the ini. This value was not, to my knowledge, kept in the savegame in Oblivion, but it is in Skyrim.
