A small and simple mod request :).

youre welcome but mind my words: THE CS IS NOT USED TO CREATE ARMOR BUT TO PUT IT IN GAME!!! (the only things you can create with it are scripts, quests and the combination of items and stuff into a mod)

so learning to use the cs will not give you the ability to create armor... help you yes but not much more...

That is true. The cs just puts the armor (nif) into an esp that Oblivion can read to make use of it ingame.

What I said was - " It would take some time to get all the pieces together in Blender", which is what I use to make clothing, armor, and other stuf. Point is, making the armor requested by the original poster is possible by using existing pieces of armor/clothing, making adjustments to them so they fit whatever body mod you use, and parenting them all together in a single nif, most likely using existing textures so you don't need to make new ones. .

Not easy, but certainly not impossible. Getting the time to do it is the hard part. RL happens to me every day, and I'm also making clothing for Robert's new female in my spare time. Beyond that, I'm involved in model making for a new game using a completely different game engine.

I might play with this some tho, just to see if I could make something usable ...

Lol thanks again Jaysus :). But don't say it as if you are shouting at me :(. You have to understand I'm a noob at the CS (but im still going to see if i can fiddle around with it). And thanks Stephanie. I really need to find out how to use the CS:(.

Just one little question for wither of you. What all programs would I need to use along with the CS to successfully make meshes and textures and models of weapons armor and other tools for oblivion. Again I know the CS dosent make it it places it in. For example I think Stephanie mentioned a program called, "Blender" and I have heard that before and is used for making models.

So what basic programs and how many would an average CS starter noob need? :)

np dude... i wrote in caps cause you seemed to have overlooked my statement earlier in this thread regarding the cs... thus no offense meant/taken even tho i also think you were a bit rude the way you asked...

as to how to do all that stuff i advise you to check: contruction wiki

read that page and then make your way through the basic tutorials...

thats fundamental and you wont get far without doing so

i use 3dmax + photoshop + export/import plugins... nifskope can be helpful too for basic model preference adjustments, a texture mapping app could be useful aswell

blender would be a free 3d modelling application compared to a 600$ 3dmax its still quite as good... but if you intend to work as a profesionell one day id rather advise you to go for 3dmax or maya as thats what most parts of the industry use...

go for the free stuf first, unless you have a lot of money you don't need for other things .. (then you should take me shopping)

Get Blender, the NIF Import/Export Scripts for Blender and NIFSkope. Blender can make new meshes or modify existing ones, and NIFSkope is a good tool to tweak meshes and change textures inside a nif.

Blender also requires Python be installed first.

NIFSkope is a free-standing program.

To make Textures get "The Gimp". It's similar to Photoshop and unlike Photoshop, it's free.

Just google for this stuf, download it, install it, and teach yourself how to use it. There are some tutorials, but they never tell you what you want to know. You should just try something on a copy of an existing nif, and keep trying until you get it right. Most modders will help point you in the right direction ...

I wasent being rude jaysus :(. Nor was I asking anything so I don't understand what you are talking about.

Anyways nevertheless thanks mate :).

And thanks Stephanie :). This all seems like a lot of hard and mind wrecking work :(, not even my brother can make mods and hes a genius at Computers so I don't know If ill succeed. But as I said, I'll give it a go. :).

You're welcome, Lip .. and yes, it is a lot of work. If we had the same software available to us that Bethesada uses it might be easier. But then, we would also have a ton of money involved in 'modding', too.

We have to depend on "super-guru" programmers to decypher (hack) the file structure of a Nif and then make a program that allows the 'modder' to make new nif files that are compatible with the Oblivion Game Engine. The people who wrote 'Blender', Python, NIFSkope, and others are the real heros. We modders just use their programs to help us make the clothing/armor/body mods.

I'm usually online here 1-2 times a week, so if you get 'stuck' on something just ask a question. If I can answer it, I will .. or I'll tell you where to look to find the answer if it's lengthy. There are a lot of other knowledgable people here too, so there's no shortage of help when you need it.

There are also other sites that have tutorials and other help available. PM me, and I'll guide you to them. You can also visit me at wolflore. I'm getting some things together for a Blender discussion there, too.

If a Moderator says it's ok, I'll post my list here ...

Here...the CS Wiki...your true friend ;)

Construction Set Wiki

You can view here tutorials about the CS (you can't do anything if don't know at least the basics of CS) and also some links to modelling and texturing software and also some tutorials.

Cheers
