macrocosm144
NOOB SkyrimSE mod question... Whats the correct way of saving a .dds file from photoshop? I have the intell plugin installed and working fine, but no matter what I do, when I save my edited body skin then load it into nifskope its like 50 shades darker. Even if I make no edits, just open and save in photoshop, same thing. Is there an undocumented gotcha in this process? Ive been searching for hours and tried a million times. D: EDIT*I should add.... The skin texture is the original already installed by another body mod, im opening that in photoshop, its not a new texture.Im also using the most recent release of Nifskope, and photoshop too, so thats not the prob. JonathanOstrus
NifSkope has an option to enable and try to render with shading like how it would in game. You can hit Alt-S (I think) to toggle the option. If it isn't that you can play with settings on the Render menu.

So... I cannot use 'BC7 sRGB' for exporting, only the BC7 Linear options come out a proper color and brightness. Not sure why, but this is one of those things you just have to learn I suppose lol, damn... that took hours to figure out. But now I know, lol, #FailForward Edited February 9, 2018 by macrocosm144
JonathanOstrus
That could just be a NifSkope specific issue and it may look proper in game. Have you tested that?

Have you tested that?Yes, I did and the character was nearly black, but the texture was there, just really dark. lol Could it be something in my nif? It's pretty consistent, I tried several times more. Using the BC7 sRGB dds save options renders them nearly black, but the other bc7 linear save options are proper color and brighness. JonathanOstrus
I'm not sure what to say there. Maybe there is something about how it stores the data and then reproduces it. I've not really messed much with textures so I'm probably not the best to advise on this subject.
