CptBraden
I play Fallout 4 on the Xbox One since PS dont have access to all the extra mods. I have looked and have not found one yet, n I have no way of making a mod I want. So I was wondering if someone could make a simple mod that just adds the Halloween theme song from the movies to like a holotape or something. I just downloaded a Michael Myers outfit n would love 2 have the music 2 listen 2 while running around dressed as him at nite killing enemies. AGreatWeight
The Halloween main theme/ost is copyrighted material. Any mod uploaded that used it would be in violation of the TOS of Bethesda.net, and subject to removal.
CptBraden
Ah man, dang 4 real? That sucks, but thnx 4 the response letting me know. Well then how are ppl allowed to use audio files from other games like the Final Fantasy victory music and Star Wars death cry/Wilhelm scream? willyb9
they either got permission from the copyright holders, the copyright has expired, or more likely they just did it anyways and bethesda hasn't removed the mods for using copyrighted assets. there's over 15,000 mods for fallout 4 alone and bethesda doesn't vet each mod before they're allowed to be uploaded so some (being generous) mods that violate the rules slip through the cracks unless they're reported to moderators
AGreatWeight
If you get permission from the copyright holder (and be able to provide proof of permission, that can then be verified if your upload is flagged as being in violation of the TOS) then you can use other assets in your mod/s. However, Bethesda.net is known to unwittingly host copyrighted content from other games/IP's etc, either due to ignorance (or being aware of, but purposely ignoring copyright) on the part of the uploader/s. The moderators there will remove any mods found to contain stolen assets, but things do slip between the cracks as the moderator team is pretty small for the site. CptBraden
Alrite then, so basically someone could add the Halloween theme 2 a mod, n if it slipped through n got uploaded, could b used until the mod team or Bethesda removes it?
