Jumping 1st person camera view, random attacking

Does anyone else have these problems and is there a know fix for them?

1. Ever since I started playing vanilla Oblivion to today heavily modded Oblivion the first person camera view will randomly jump to be looking straight up or straight down. This makes this VERY confusing and deadly when in the middle of a intense battle.

2. Also on a less frequent basis my character will draw thier wepon and just start attacking the air. This can be very bad when standing near good NPCs.

3. Finally on a even more less frequent interval my characters will go into a "locked" blocking stance, this results in the PCs movment to be reduced to a snails crawl.

All of these events can be easily remedied by (drawing/putting away weapon, etc..) but they are becoming increasingly annoying especially at higher levels where the dangers are much greater.

Thanks

We'll need more info to provide any help. Your plugins.txt file & DXDIAG (if on PC). What version of Oblivion are you running? Are you running just OB or OB + SI? If so, are you patched correctly?

Are you using OBMM, Wrye Bash, or FCOM Helper to Load Order your mods (I make use of all of them for various tasks)?

I've had the Same as your 1st and 3rd point.

1 : Sometimes on entering new areas the camera would jump as you say, but after a wiggle of the mouse its sorts it self out. I have had this with other games too, so its not just oblivion. I have an optical mouse, I believe its just sort of reinitiating, so i accept it. Much better than Roller ball anyday.

3 : I've had the Blocked shield too, few swings of sword, jumping around etc and it stops, irritating i know but with all the other problems oblivion throws at me i dont worry about it, ctds i worry about.

Sorry cant be more constructivly helpful.....

Ok, I've noticed some things right off the bat:

Your DXDIAG says you have damaged files (Direct Play) for Baldur's Gate (& do a reinstall of it). That leads me to believe you might have other damaged files.

START - RUN - cmd - chkdsk /f - type y, then enter, do a restart.

You're running a beta driver for your nVidia, right? You're behind (& missing a WHQL Certification). Current version is 175.16, which is WHQL Certified.

Why are you running XP SP2, when SP3 is finished with beta testing and posted on Microsoft Update? You must be way behind on security fixes for XP.

You're behind in all of your fixes from Kivan in Oblivion. TESNexus has all of them (UOP, UOMP, USIP). Hopefully you're using the self-installer versions. They are easy to find, just click "Updates Recently" on the right side & scroll down, looking for the filenames.

Other than what I've mentioned, I would suggest you might want to either get in touch with Kivan at Bethesda Forum, and/or do a complete uninstall & reinstall of Oblivion.

To: Varus Torvyn

Thanks for all the help, I have implemented all of the changes you suggested and am going to play for a couple of days to see how things are running. If I'm still having problems I'll do a full reinstall this weekend. I also just installed streamline but the GFX still seem pretty jumpy, but I only test drove it for about 5 min.

THX again

Game is running awsome in indoor cells FPS 45 (combat) to 75 (non-combat) still getting alot of instances of the view jumping up and down though. Been having random CTDs outside especcially when actors are around.

Just found a new patch for QTP 3 and UOP 3 for the parallaxed textures outside, hopefully this will impove the CTD issue.
