Except 2 things.

First, any enchantment hit happens long after the normal damage is done. Meaning that any strike made which kills the NPC could have been the result of damage before your calculations have ever been considdered. In the case of things wearing heavy armor, this could be a very frequent occurance. Second, any damage which has been added by that effect may not count as the player doing it, which might allow the player to get away with murder. Making all weapons 0 or 1 damage might solve the first problem, but make the second greater. Also, the AI chooses weapons based on damage, not enchantments, so doing so would likely result in everyone you're fighting using their fists. Additionally, any enchantment on a weapon makes that weapon magical, and thus bypasses resistances to normal weapons. And any sort of elemental shield or reflect damage spells will only factor in the base weapon damage, not any enchantments.

Second, still doesn't do anything for creatures. Greater powers aren't attacks. Lesser powers aren't attacks. You can't block a lesser power. Also, many creatures have seperate animations for casttouch than they do for attacks. And, spell reflect/absorb works on 100% of the spell strength, so you can't really use that as a means of emulating a block. Spell resists work on a percentage basis, but are much harder to calculate with.

And as said, your mod may not work well with any other modded game since it is so dependent on the specific changes you are making to equipment, npcs, and creatures. Something like this, even if it could work how you want it, just isn't practical to use or make in the long run.

Ah, thanks, that sure cleared a few missconceptions.

How about going the oposite way? Small numbers are small, however, setting hp, hp gain and after hit bonus dmg so high that vanila dmg wouldn't matter would be a way. Then again it would only make the other problems worse.

I could go on and on inventing stranger and weirder ways but as you've said it's not worth it in the long run.

Thanks for your time.
