Philosophos
Hello, My game keeps crashing to desktop randomly while playing. My system specs are: Intel i7 [email protected] Ghz; 12 GB Ram DDR3 1600 Corsair; Powercolor Radeon HD 7970 3GB@1125/1575, Asus P8Z68-M pro MB, SB Audigy SE and Windows 7 64 Bit. I've already checked the temperatures, but my CPU is just 40°C under load and the GPU just 70°C. I am also using the "Realistic Overhaul" texture mod, in case that sould be relevant. Is there any way to resolve this issue? Is this happening to any of you guys as well? Edited April 6, 2012 by Philosophos

I've uploaded a snapshot of my Skyrim data files so you guys can see which mods I am currently using. I am using the latest version of Skyrim. And no, I have not unlocked Skyrim with the 4 GB fix. Actian
Hi! I have the same problem: the game random crashes when i'm playing, and i don't know why.I have installed many mods, about 20, I think. Does this cause the crashes? If I simply uninstall some mods, will it stop crashing? Please tell me what to do.Thanks Actian
MadWizard25
@ Philosophos What version of skyrim are you using? Latest one 1.5.26 seems to be unstable with mods, as many have not been updated for it yet. It could also be an issue with your load order. I would definitely recommend moving SkyrimURWL.esp to the top of the mod list, see if that helps. @Actian Again, what version of skyrim are you running? 20 mods is actually not that much, but again, have you updated them recently? Also post your load order like Philos did. Wrong load orders can cause crashes. If you uninstall all the mods it may stop the crashes. Its a smart thing to try because if your game is still crashing with no mods installed, then its something wrong with your computer or the version of skyrim. If it runs fine then its almost certainly a mod issue. Edited April 6, 2012 by MadWizard25
Actian
I have uninstalled some mods and now Skyrim seems to run correctly and without any problem. I've got the first version of the game, never updated, so maybe it crashed because of the mods which have been created for a more recent patch...It is possible? blitzen
Random crashes are almost certainly mod related, unless you have a bad install. The CK is still somewhat buggy, so mods created with it have issues. I'm running over 100 mods without crashing, but I've had to disable quite a few mods immediately after activating them because they did cause crashes, even instant CTDs. Most of these mods were either new lands/dungeons, or race additions/modifications. Some of them seem to break some of the vanilla triggers. Things like weapons and armor are pretty harmless. Make sure that you are using BOSS to help with optimizing your load order. There are also going to be cases where mods don't necessarily have bugs, but do conflict with other mods. I've also noticed that some mods are dragging in way too much data that is not related to the mod. Wrye Bash has a mod cleaning feature that helps to deal with this. I'm not sure how well the Skyrim version is working at this point.
ProjectVRD
I am getting the same thing, only been happening the last day or so and Task Manager always shows the game is using 1.9GB when it freezes and I would assume, CTD's. I am using the Beta. My mods and plug-ins are linked below: http://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/imageshare/images/3455973-1333746664.jpghttp://static.skyrim.nexusmods.com/imageshare/images/3455973-1333746529.jpg My spec is in my signature. etang2
Bad news guys, occasionally, mods cause dungeon generation fatal error crashes, also known as CTD, you may need to start a new game :/, but its ussually only applicable for people running tons of mods, like 100-200 (like me), so you should be alright@ProjectRVD get the 4gb patch, it really helps, ussually, although, in the beta, its automatically patched, thats weird, recommend a clean install perhapsAnd almost every single crash is mod related when running a mod, even a bad install wont ussually crash it unless really bad, (lke fundemental scripting/papyrus errors) so its definately mods... i hate them cant live without them but constant crashing
