[LE] Giving a Custom NPC armor from an armor mod as the default outfit. How?

Title explains all. I am trying to give my custom NPC armor pieces from a separate armor mod but when I try and add the items to the set it just shows the NPC as invisible.

Also when I try to select where the .nif files are, I just get purple items without textures. Some help would be appreciated. I am new to CK so please write your responses with that in mind.

Here is the mod I am trying to use:

If you get invisible items or purple textures , this means you have missing meshes and textures respectively

so either you just installed the mod incorrectly , you didn't set up Archive Invalidation , or something of that sort

other than this , there shouldn't really be any problem with what you are doing

I installed the mod through MO. I am not sure what Archive Invalidation is...could you elaborate?

yeah , I'm not sure you can use the CK while installing mods through MO

I believe the CK requires the files to be in the game's folders

unless you can run the CK through MO (check online if it's possible , and if so how to set it up)

as for Archive Invalidation , look here https://gamerpoets.com/text-tutorials/tools/mod-organizer-installation-setup/

at the very bottom of the guide , there is a section about Archive Invalidation , make sure to follow it

When I get home I will see if I have Archive Invalidation checked. If what you say is true and I am unable to use MO for using armor mods in CK how would I go about installing them manually?

I noticed a different armor mod I installed was able to work properly in the preview mode, but when I place the character somewhere he is naked. CK also warned me of "missing textures" when loading the armor onto the npc but it showed up without any missing textures. Very weird.

I'm pasting a comment from a different site (not sure if I can put a link to that site here)

see if the info there helps you

I had exactly the same issue.

Using the gears icon that you used when you added CK as an executable...

Look at the properties of CK executable in that MO dialogue.

See the box that says Overwrite (or over ride) Steam AppID?

Check that box and enter 202480 for the AppID.

Official Instructions HERE

I struggled with this for a couple of days while that STEP project wiki web site was down. Once it came back up, there was my answer. default_smile.png

You won't be able to compile scripts in CK with it running in MO, but that same link has a workaround if that's what your goal is.

For just browsing/editing ESP files, that AppID override should be all you need.

this is for you to set up the CK through MO

if you want to run the CK normally (not through MO) , you will need to install the mods through a different mod manager , or manually

however , if you do this , you will need to either remove the mods afterwards , or stop using MO

it's not recommended to use several methods of mod installations , so if you want to go with MO , try loading the CK through it
