prodigium
If you want to replace a vanilla texture, extract the textures from the .bsa with FOMM's BSA Browser, copy the textures into your Data folder and keep the file structure intact/exactly same. Then just edit the .dds files with GIMP or Photoshop. And you don't have to be 'good' at drawing, not even with GIMP/Photoshop. Stuff like changing coloring, adding small details, adding patterns/filters, small stuff like that is very easy to do. Here's a few tutorials relevant to the topic: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Category:Texturing Edited April 6, 2012 by prodigium

prodigium
If I understood correctly, you're adding a new texture from the texture sets? I don't know why it wouldn't work. If the texture is there and you apply it, it should render the change immediately.

prodigium
Follow this tutorial (http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Armor_texturing_for_beginners), skip the parts that dont apply to what you're trying to do. I still think the method I described in my first post is better though, for a simple texture replacer. Edited April 6, 2012 by prodigium
