Having trouble getting mods(in general) to work.

All right. I just started trying to use skyrim mods today. I downloaded the Nexus Mod Manager, got it set up. I made sure my game was at least closely patched, (I think mine is 1.5.24 atm?) then downloaded a handful of seemingly compatible mods. (Imp's More Complex Needs, Vampire Overhaul, Unlimited Bookshelves, a vampire eye-color mod.) I downloaded them into a seperate folder, then told NMM where to look. It found them, copied them over to where they needed to be, activated etc. All looked good. Started a FRESH game, and...I see no changes. Now, granted, I'm going to assume the vampire overhaul wouldn't be noticed until I became a vampire, (Ditto the eye-color, and I haven't gotten to any in-game bookshelves yet) but I see nothing regarding IMCN. I can't find a bar, or any real change in my UI to reflect that I'm going to starve, etc. Examining food shows it to be the same as before, restores X health, no other info. What am I missing?

Then let your game auto update to the latest patch with steam so we can rule that out of the equation. As far as I know there havnt been any reported problems with the latest version, so there is no reason not to.

Thing is, it looks as if they're supposed to be compatible with either. O.o So I don't think that's the issue. I'm just not sure what I'm doing wrong at this point. I mean, NMM is easy to use, and even though I got the mods 'the hard way' <Manual download, then manually select from NMM and activate> all of those mods are usable with NMM, says so on their info. All are VERY recent release versions.

I don't know when the very latest patch was released, but version 1.5.26.0 was released to all Steam users on 03/30/2012, You are using 1.5.24. If the mods are very recent versions, then that is all the more reason to suspect that it is due to you not having the game up-to-date.

Are you using the non-steam version then?
