Ugly children after some modding

Alright, so basically I downloaded Skyrim the Journey's mod collection to add to my Skyrim game. After some tweaking, I got rid of the permadeath, I disabled frostfall, I installed Conjuration Madness there. I only added Conjuration Madness at the end of the load order in the Appdata folder and it worked.

 

Then I tried installing Midas Magic and Phendrix and they wouldn't work. I couldn't find the cheat chest for Midas in the Riverwood Trader nor the Phendrix Ambassador in Dragonsreach, so I figured it must be because Skyrim the Journey's mod collection contains mods that alter these spaces and they were probably, via manual installation and activation, incompatible.

 

I then tried using LOOT and Wrye Bash, which I used to avoid because sometimes in my earlier modding days when I wasn't as experienced they'd break my game.

 

It worked, I managed to get both Phendrix and Midas working. I also noticed Skyrim the Journey came with a bashed patch, which utilizes the same method of installing mods as I just did - using LOOT and Wrye Bash.

 

Then I go to my house in Solitude and see my two adopted children are ugly now. Bald heads with big adult facial features, like a creepy mannequin. All of the boys. So I'm trying to figure out - what the hell happened? I was playing the game at home, my father's laying down on the couch watching me, I tell him what the hell my children are ugly in the game now, he starts laughing(I don't have kids of my own yet in real life so he figured that's kind of one way to live an experience where you have disappointment in your kids, as I haven't yet) and tells me a story about how his ex best friend(an a**hole) used to go around telling people that my grandfather passed away so young because my mother and my aunt and uncle were all ugly kids, so he died of despair.

 

What does Phenderix and Midas have to do with the children mod? I figured it had something to do with the load order, I've been looking at it, but I can't figure it out, as it looks pretty much the same.

Anybody have any idea? I can usually fix things for hours by myself but now I'm stumped, so I just wanted to turn to the forum to ask for assistance.

 

Fyi I have no idea what those last 5 esp's are after Bashed Patch lol.

Nevermind. I fixed it. I went to the Nexus Mods page for RSkyrimChildren to see if I could find anything and the main page told me about the load order. I know I had RSkyrimChildren.esm but no .esp file, and only one stranger_danger patch. Not like all the other ones it listed. So I thought maybe they were part of the Merged Patches and decided to look there. I found the RSkyrimChildren files in Merged_NPCs.esp

 

I figured since the Nexus Mods page for RSkyrimChildren says put the .esp file at the end of your load order, using common sense and the scientific method I went and compared the load order in my Appdata folder vs. the original Skyrim the Journey load order. It turns out that Merged_NPCs is at the end of all those other Merged esp files in the original load order file, whereas in my Appdata load order it is not and actually comes before a few of the Merged ones.

 

By using some mystical innate method of logical deduction and heuristics, and possibly some subconsciously learned logical fallacy, I simply cut and pasted Merged_NPCS.esp in my load order and plugins file to be right before Bashed Patch.

 

I turned on the game, loaded a game, it didn't say that I'd be loading a saved game with files that are not available(thank God, which means I could've potentially screwed up something more, or fixed this and screwed something else, and it did say this when I loaded the game after installing Phenderix and Midas and doing the thing with LOOT and rebuilding the bashed patch with Wrye Bash, but I only found out after 20 saves that my children were ugly and saw that was one of the things that I screwed up) and so I loaded the game. The closest child I had was Aslan or something, and he was bald, but his face was no longer ugly. It was still kind of ugly just different.

 

So I figured, I don't know how Aslan is supposed to look like with RSkyrimChildren, nor the vanilla Aslan, so we'll see whether something has been fixed or the vanilla children are back. I went to my house in Solitude and saw my children were gorgeous again.

 

I'm no longer disappointed in my children. The problem seems to have been fixed. Thanks for all your potential help.
