QuentinVance
I've removed all files I had, except my Geckpu from the New Vegas Folder. If I understand correctly, the structure I need is this: New Vegas Main Folder- nvse DDLs- nvse_loader.exeNew Vegas Data Folder- NVSE folder-- Plugin folder with all files from JIP Plugin Is that right? By the way, just saving an empty script works just fine with Geck PU, it simply creates the empty script in my resource list. Doesn't do anything, but still. The NVSE Shortcut doesn't save at all. EPDGaffney
If these screenshots don't help you, I have to go back to my original stance of moving your installation out of Program Files. To support this stance, and to show you what has caused my support for this to become bolstered once more, I refer you to the GECK PowerUp page and what its author (or the fork's author, more accurately) had to say on just this topic: redmaxblower:For slow people like myself...To load the G.E.C.K. through NVSE after you've installed it in your Fallout New Vegas folder:1) Right click the nvse_loader.exe icon in your Fallout New Vegas folder. On the toolbar that pops up click Create Shortcut.2) Right Click the new icon you just created named: nvse_loader.exe - Shortcut. On the toolbar that pops up click Properties.3) The window that pops up should read at the top nvse_loader.exe - Shortcut Properties.4) In that window will be a line that reads Target: Followed by your install directory where you installed Fallout New Vegas.Example: Target: "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\nvse_loader.exe" The first part of that line may be different on your computer. What we care about here is the end of the line.5) At the end of that line, after the end quote " type a space, and then -editor. The end of your file path in the Target window should now read like thisExample: Target: "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\nvse_loader.exe" -editor6) Click Apply at the bottom of the window.7) Click Close at the bottom of the window. Click the nvse_loader.exe - Shrortcut icon.9) The G.E.C.K. should now load up.If it doesn't... you're on your own. I don't know how to explain it any other way. Tough Puppy:Thankyou, I found your reply very helpful.Just to make sure, if I run GECK through the shortcut with powerup installed as well, does the shortcut load up the powerup too?Something else which is vital but which you have omitted is that you must run the shortcut as an admin else the GECK will fail to load. To do this, simply follow steps 1-3 and then click 'Advanced...' which is beside 'Open File Location...' and 'Change Icon...' and then tick the 'Run as administrator' box. hlp (mod author):No there isn't any need to run any of the beth game and or the script extender as an admin. NEVER.In fact it would generate more issues than solution. There is only one rule to follow. Do no install a game you intend to mod inside Program Files or Program Files (x86).Please, do not tell people to run any part of those games as admin, that is a very bas advice. QuentinVance
I have done everything as shown in those screenshots, but I get the same result: I do not see the Check Spelling option, and I can't save any script at all, even already-working scripts.HOWEVERI have just noticed that I miss that nvse_plugin_geckpu_nv-14.dll file. Apparently it was not included in the files I downloaded from the main website. Where can I find it? EPDGaffney
It turns out I think I was mistaken and you probably just need that NVSE file after all, the one you don't have. I downloaded it from the Nexus page a couple of days ago, so it has to be there. I remember having just that file, and it seemed to be working just yesterday when that's all I had, but the installation instructions appear to state otherwise. It certainly doesn't hurt to have them all anyhow. Any use?https://prnt.sc/ik4pmn I just manually download the archive and open it, I don't save it, then drag the file(s) I want into a folder on my computer and exit without saving the files I don't need. QuentinVance
Well... I simply added that one file and it works. I can see the Check Spell option and also an error because the MsgButtonPressUDF parameter is not set.I don't care. I don't need it to work.I am now happy. I can now die in peace. EPDGaffney
Brilliant. So, if you were unaware, GECK PU gives a lot of unnecessary warning messages, and it's really annoying, but you have to take that with the good, which is that all its warnings about scripts are valid and it will fairly deftly proofread all your coding and point you where you need to be looking with admirable efficiency. That and you can turn off the spell-checker, which is wonderful. Its warning about the UDF parameter is therefore probably something you want to look into if you want that script to work. I can help you with that if you're not so burnt out that you never want to touch the GECK again (I feel like that daily, though, so maybe it doesn't really mean anything). QuentinVance
Well, I'm a bit tired right now, I will probably be building some environments for a bit (I would have to do it anyway), but having some help from someone who already knows how that Plugin works would surely be a great thing! Thanks a lot to both you and Dubiousintent, you really saved my mod. EDIT: Writing this for whoever might see this thread and need some help: adding the shortcut to Steam appears to remove the -editor piece from the Target, so the very first time you will need to go to Properties and add -editor again to the target (within Steam). I don't know why this happened, but just in case. Edited February 27, 2018 by QuentinVance
EPDGaffney
That makes sense. I'm fairly sure a lot of people would feel the same. Oh, I completely forgot about launching the GECK via Steam. I have that shortcut pinned to my taskbar and generally launch it before I even launch Steam. Good catch.
