CTD near Solitude

Not sure how to say this...

When approaching Solitude (Using Civil Unrest mod) passing one of the battlefields near the stormcloak camp, just shortly after passing them... I get a CTD, no errors are seen and as if nothing happened... this has happened to 2 different characters.

I tried another approach of using Dovahkin hideout and use the solitude proudspire manor door. i was able to get into the house and exit into solitude. i then approached the exit of solitude. once i did that i got another CTD with no errors or warnings. not sure what is causing this.

Mods i am using:

Apachiihair | sexy house vendors | Art of magic | armored rings |

black sacrament armor and black tower armory | bound weapons redux

cinderfrost (NPC mod) | companion followers | craft unique artifact weapons

crimson tide | dark lilith | enchant plus | enchant 4 effects | enchant power

faster arrows | ff7 bustersword | ff7 masamune and souba | follower limit increased

hideout | I put a Spell on You | lighter weapons | master enchanter

more craftables | more training | multimarraige | nightshade armor

perk heavy armor tree redone | perk light armor tree redone | sekirei

sexy crafting merchants | SSqueezer | the eyes of beauty | Warzones Civil Unrest

weapons of 3rd Era

Texture packs:

Better faces by Bella | Skyrim HD 1.5 Lite | CBBE

Recently, I was have a similar bug like you (I used Civil Unrest too), but it's not in Solitude area, it's in pathway to High Hrothgar, every time I walk close to the last stone pillar in front of High Hrothgar's gate, it's always CTD, CTD, again and again, very annoying. After some time I've been very angry to this CTD, nearly smashed my PC, I try to disable all mods, but it's have no effect and it's keep CTD.

Finally, I decided to do a clean reinstall Skyrim, then patched to 1.5.24, and reinstall all my mods by one by one while do a trial and error on each mod. At this time I don't reinstall the HiRes DLC like before cause I have a bad feeling about it. (however I reinstall civil unrest again).

Voilla!

The CTD has gone for good, so I can continue to the High Hrothgar

So I suspect the culprit is that HiRes DLC, but it just my opinion.

So try to reinstall your game and delete Skyrim's save folder (but backup your game save first), you can keep your mod in the folder. After finish reinstall, patch it, then start a new game (just for create an .ini setting), exit the game, and import your old saves (just the game save, don't copy the old config or .ini file) to the newly created Skyrim's save folder, you can activate your mods, but try to disable Skyrim HD for a while, then try your old save.

So CTD is more terrifying than Alduin, because it can bring a doomsday to all over Tamriel in just one sec. ;D

*Sorry for my bad English

i found the cause.. this one was very strange

Cause was a NPC mod that i failed to mention... i didn't think much of it since you don't see the NPC in solitude.. they are placed in Whiterun so it didn't make much sense that this mod was the culprit

now how do you close this topic as solved?

side note: Thank you R4VE for trying to help and you speak pretty well

You're welcome

Maybe I just can says, to the future, we should be cautious when trying to install a mod, and do it one by one with trial and error. My bad habit in the past is always installing many of downloaded mods at same time, so if some problem happen it can be desperately confusing.

Skyrim is not very stable game, if this day we have a CTD at Solitude or Hrothgar, who knows after finish some quest or made a progress maybe we will have a new CTD in Windhelm or the other area (some player have reported CTD on Windhelm and Kynesgroove). Many Skyrim's CTD bugs are mysterious and unresolvable even rollback a fully modified game to vanilla. So always create a backup first like many moder have said.

I had that same problem - crash at Solitude. I tried traveling by wagon... insta CTD. I tried walking from the Abandoned House and CTD when getting near the ships.

What as the name of that NPC mod Hazard88?

Now I have a different problem. I thought to reinstall Skyrim from scratch to clean everything up. Now, I cannot reinstall the game. I just keep getting the message that the servers are too busy to handle my 'request'.

I've tried that method in the link that says to use 'run' "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install D: to install from the disk, but it doesn't install from the disk. It still tries to install from Steam =(

No Skyrim for me =(
