AlphaWoIF
Hi just a quick question that im unable to find an answer for on the webs Say i have a mesh thats already rigged with bones that i plan to port to skyrim which im more than capable of doing already, but instead of going through the whole manual rigging process to get it moving as nice as the original, Is it at all possible to take the bone / envelpoe data from the original and apply it to similar bones once its rigged to the skeleton.nilf. I have already tried to to do this by renaming the bones in the original file to the same as the skeleton.nilf and copying and loading the envelopes data from the original to and back to the mesh once its rigged to the skeleton.nilf with the hope that it would just apply to it and overwite the same bone data with originals wieghts. short story it didnt work infact it unrigged the mesh?. if this is possible it would save me a lot of time but what steps would i take?thanks Edited April 7, 2012 by AlphaWoIF
jimhsu
A way (though not necessarily the easiest) is to pose the model onto the skyrim skeleton w/ the existing skeleton, and use SkinUtilities to export the skin data, dump the skin modifier (make sure to collapse instead of deleting the modifier) and add the skyrim bones, and import it back in with manual matching of the bones. Gets tedious if you have to do it more than once though. Edited July 4, 2012 by jimhsu
