Game suddenly refuses to work with a controller?

So, I'd been using a controller with this game for months now. Suddenly the A button on the one I was using got stuck, so I bought new one online. Exact same as the one I was using.

But when I went to use it, the trigger buttons wouldn't pull up the weapon. The bumpers wouldn't pull up vats or anything either. Every other button worked fine, and the buttons worked in the pipboy.

Loaded tried the controller in different games, worked fine. Not the controller. After trying for two hours to find a solution online, got nothing. So I decided to open up pinnacle game profiler, a program that maps the keyboard and mouse to the controller. Made a profile, went into the game, turned controller off in the gameplay menu of settings... But it won't work?!

I restarted the computer, launched the game again, still won't work. Opened up notepad, sure enough hitting the buttons on the controller typed in the corresponding keys I'd mapped it too. Did my game suddenly get possessed by one of those keyboard elitists whose a complete ass about other people using a controller? JFC.

Any help here would be much appreciated x.x

EDIT: Okay, I got pinnacle to work by not running F4SE as administrator, but if anyone knows why my trigger and bumpers don't work anywhere but the pipboy, I'd love to know.
