Question About Edits to a Quest

Hi everyone! I've seen mods that alter how quests turn out, such as The Paarthurnax Dilemma, that seem to work out pretty well. I know touching the Civil War is kind of a modding "no-no", but I was wondering how complicated or how detrimental making an adjustment to the end of the Battle of Whiterun would be? I know mods that remove the need for the battles tend to cause massive problems, but what if in the post-battle dialogue, instead of Vignar taking over, Balgruuf relented and joined the Stormcloaks, remaining Jarl? Since the battle took place and someone is sitting on the throne, and all the dialogues with the Jarl are the same with the main story quests, could it really cause a disruption in the Force?

It's a myth that touching Civil War is a modding "no-no".

If you want to create some voice lines for Balgruuf siding with Stormcloaks, cut content, reused, or spliced alike, let me know.

I'm having fun with designing what amounts to a better version of that mod that skipped the Battle of Whiterun, so maybe putting such stuff in the battle finale is also on the plate at this early design stage.

I would strongly advice you not to touch the CW. Also, I doubt Arthmoor would touch the CW due for being too complicated and he is a veteran modder with great modding skill.

I know there exist a CW overhaul mod for SLE, but I haven't play it and cannot comment that.

@simtam: I would be happy to help in any way, although my modding experience is nada. I was going to attempt to learn how to do this myself, and I don't even know if I would be successful. I'm willing to learn, I guess is what I'm saying. If there's something I could do to help, please let me know!

@leonardo2: I wasn't trying to imply that Arthmoor had touched the CW. I merely listed his wonderful mod as an example of altering how quests turn out, and wondering if the same could be done to the CW in that small capacity.

If you're willing to learn and don't how to mod then do what I did. What I did was to place a map marker in the CK and the mod I created only had one map marker, which worked when I try it myself.

Eventually, after a lot of practice, I finally found a need for a mod and now is it a reality.

So start small and later when you discover new things try those things in the CK, but also ask questions about what one can do and cannot do. :smile:

@rayne3, I started with

Balgruuf is a malenord voicetype, so there are 60 lines a malenord says something with the world 'Stormcloak'. Yesterday I've listened to the first 30 of them, and there might be some that - in other context - will make the jarl more pro-Stormcloak.

@leonardo2: That's a great point, abd thanks for the links! I'm doing a minimalist playthrough right now, but that would have come in super handy on my last playthrough. I'll definitely snag it for future, crafting characters.

@simtam: Thank you for the links! I will start playing with the dialogue, see what I can't find and possibly put together. Is there recommended software that you know of for piecing together sound clips or should I just google and see what pops up?
