archangel7333 Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I am not a computer wiz and need some explanation on what I need to use downloaded mods, how to open them and where to put them
amycus Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 (edited) Depends on what game you wish to mod. If you specify which game it is we can provide you with better instructions.EDIT: Welcome to the site btw :) Edited April 7, 2012 by amycus

I have never done any of this so I am definitely going to need a walk through. Thanks.

Not 100% of all mods are installed this way, which is why you should ALWAYS read the description. The description usually contain information of how to install, and whether something else than the base game is required (some mods might require other mods or DLCs to work properly). For most DA2 mods however, the installation process is simply this:1) download and install a software that can read .rar/.zip files, like 7-zip if you havnt already (7-zip is free and can also be downloaded, once again free, here on the nexus: http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579 ) 2) When you download a mod you should get a .rar or .zip file. Open this file with 7-zip, and from there unrar its content to your override directory. (documents/Bioware/Dragon Age 2/packages/core/override). Done, the mod should now work the next time you start your game. But once again, reading the description of each mod can often save you a headache. If you still have problems you are welcome to ask again, but please provide a link to the mod you are trying to install, if we are to give you even more specific instructions than this.
