iamdave
Hey there. I'm pretty new to this, so forgive me if I come off as a complete tard. For some reason I can't get most of my skyrim mods to work. I think it has something to do with the esp files... Not too sure. Strangely enough, some of my mods work like a charm. I don't know if I'm doing this entirely wrong or not, so I'll post some pictures. Hopefully you guys can point me in the right direction. What I see in NMM - http://i.imgur.com/rLfHg.jpg http://i.imgur.com/n99Ng.jpg Now, the mods that do work are SkyUI, A Quality World Map - With Roads, DIMONIZED UNP female body, and NPC masturbation (Triggered), as well as some of the features of W.A.T.E.R. But not all. The mods that don't work are Cloaks of Skyrim, The Asteria, UFO Ultimate Follower Overhall, and the Stripper Companion. I'm also thinking that some of the features of W.A.T.E.R aren't working, as well as the ULTRA REALISTIC LIGHTING. But I don't know for sure! I'm a newb. As you can see in the second screenshot... None of the plugins are checked. It's like that every single time I open NMM, not sure if that's normal. I've put check marks beside them all before starting the game, and rearranged the order, but that doesn't do anything. They just don't work. This brings me reason to believe that it has something to do with the esp files, because the mods (or part of mods) that are working do not use them. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for your time :)
Dovahkin96
dw im a noob aswell,i sometimes have the same problem, but i looked up on youtube and it gave me a tutorial about how to get the mods wroking again.basically it involves you opening the data files in skyrim launcher. once your in that folder theres a checklist and you just tick the mods you want :Pmy WATER mod doesnt entirely work, my cloaks of skyrim deosnt work, neither the UFO thing, but the asteria works. MShoap13
As the previous poster stated, you must activate the .esp plugins for them to take effect. Here's my general post for "Mods Don't Work" in case your issue is bigger than a tick mark box: If plugins won't stay activated, or simply fail to work after activating them, first make sure the plugins.txt (and DLClist.txt) files, under the \Skyrim\ folder located at C:\Documents and Settings\(User Name)\Local Settings\Application Data\ on XP or C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local\ on Vista/7 are writable by opening their properties and unchecking the tick mark box for "read only". Then go back into NMM and reactivate them. Some people have issues where the mod will properly appear in plugins.txt after activating it through NMM but then as soon as they launch Skyrim, it disappears again. I've yet to find the cause for this as I don't experience it, but making plugins.txt read only again after activating plugins via NMM will prevent Skyrim from removing them and they should work. Unfortunately, you'll have to make it writable, activate plugin(s), then make it read only again every time you add another plugin in the future. If they still won't work you may have a UAC issue. If you're on Vista/7, Steam (and therefore Skyrim) is installed in the default (C:\Program Files) location, and you're having problems with replacers or simply mods (plugins) not working at all, even though you've activated them in NMM, or mods refusing to deactivate, even though all of their files have been removed, then you most likely have a UAC problem. It is possible to turn off UAC though it's not recommended for the vast majority of Windows users. To get around UAC without turning it completely off you'll need to move Steam to a location UAC does not affect (C:\Games\ is a commonly used location). This will most likely break any 3rd party utilities such as NMM as it will leave old registry keys behind that point to the location you originally installed Skyrim in. If you come across this issue, you'll have to uninstall Skyrim, clean the old registry keys, reboot, then reinstall Skyrim. I personally recommend using Revo Uninstaller as if you uninstall Skyrim through it, it will automatically scan for and ask if you'd like to delete old registry keys. If you're interested in keeping your old mods, config files, and/or saved games, tips found in Bben's Oblivion Reinstall Procedure work for Skyrim as well. JerisEnigma
I'm having the same exact problem, most mods refuse to stay activated. No one seems to have a solution for me. I've already done what that video says to, adding bEnableFileSelection=1 to the prefs file, but Data Files in the Launcher remains greyed out and unclickable. Either don't HAVE or simply can't find the plugins.txt and DLClist.txt files you mentioned. Already confirmed that all mods are installed properly and activated before launching Skyrim. They only deactivate once the game starts. Skyrim itself runs beautifully and there are no clashing mods. Things like Apachii hair and the extended color selection simply will not stay activated. Perraine
Then their is obviously a corrupt file somewhere, in the Steam library, right click on Skyrim --> properties --> Local Files tab and click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" This will automatically replace any corrupt "essential" game files and 99% of the time resolve these sorts of issues
mumichipipi
hi, I think I got a similar problem activating the mods, like frost fall for excample i mean I see the book but I can't seem to activate it no matter how much I click on it, same goes for the "horse inventory mod" no matter how much I sneak and press the activate button I just simply ride the damn thing :/ Edited June 13, 2012 by mumichipipi
