if i wanted to get rid of the bethesda hd textures dlc, you need to get rid of the highres texture pack 01 and 02.esp files,do you need to do anything with the .bsa files of the same name?

thanks

just trying to get the adec, muscle mod, and black sacrament mods to work and wanted to make sure that the texture dlc wouldn't be a problem.

You can just delete the esps, or even just deactivate them. Either one will work.

I've seen that skyrim HD mod is that compatible with other mods (unlike the bethesda one) and what would i have to remove or delete of the bethesda mod files for that to work? if it's the same thing thanks just want to make sure i get it right.

thanks

It's possible to run the Official HD Texture Pack with Skyrim HD 2K (or any other replacer) with the latter taking precedence over the Official Texture pack.

Why would you want to do this? While HD 2K Textures is probably the most thorough user-created texture pack available, it still misses a lot of the small details.

I will say that some users experience increased stuttering when the game goes to buffer new resources, but for the vast majority of people this is hardly noticeable if at all.

To set this up you want to deactivate/delete the .esp plugins that come with the Official HD Texture Pack, open Skyrim.ini (located a \My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\ and add the two HD Texture.bsa's to the archive section like so:

[Archive]

sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa

Make sure to place them after the original "Skyrim - Textures.bsa". From here adding any other texture mods to your game according to their installation instructions should automatically override the Official HD Textures.

Also, if you still want to completely get rid of the Official HD Textures, it is safe to delete the two .bsa archives that came with it.

I have deactivate the official HiRes DLC, because it's made the game buggy (i.e Purple Texture (fixed by HD Texture DLC Mod), Many CTD that didn't happen before I get the official HiRes DLC installed).

@Draugr, install order doesn't matter, just set up the .ini. edit: and make sure you do not have the plugins associated with the official texture pack activated.

@Jet, if your game crashes more often with High Res textures installed then you're probably running out of System RAM or VRAM due to the increased file size of the textures.

i did that do i need to back up any files for these mods?

like for exampleC:\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data\textures\actors\character\female

C:\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data\meshes\actors\character\character assets

but after the data folder there are no more folders just files so do i need to worry about this at all?

I have no mods at the moment.
