game freezes for a few seconds

i have some mods running same as everyone else and im using the nexus mod manager but heres something i am wondering about.

my game continually freezes all the time from a few seconds to nearly half a minute, no matter where i am, no matter what im doing.

when i download a mod from here that dosnt have a link for the mod manager i save it to an external drive and i then install it from there with the mod manager.

would this then be running the mod from this other location other than my actual game install directory?

i guess when you hit the "download with mod manager" link it installs it to the actual game directory?

so if its running mods from another directory on an external drive, would this be causing freezing within the game?

Generally, all mods place any resources they require somewhere into the game's installation directory upon installation, so I highly doubt that your issue is stemming from your second drive.

 

A list of mods you're running, how many large texture replacers you're running (the Official HD Texture set, Skyrim HD 2K, WATER, etc.), and your systems general specs (CPU [Overclocked?], RAM, OS [32 bit or 64 bit], and GPU) would go a long way toward getting you some help with this though.
