Sword Mod

if i see a texture being sold for 150$ for commercial use id say why not for mods :P

take in count how long it takes... you said im crazy doing two swords in one day... thats nearly 12h work... lets say 20 to 30 bucks per hour... if you take the sword price by a tenth thats still somin round 300 bucks and to be honest a student (not saying that im overly enthusiastic) like me is happy bout anything... but nevertheless i do it for fun and also to polish my portofolio thus its ok to be free... anyway id think that requests which get handled could (not saying that they should) of course be payed for... asking for money is somin else but if someone decides that he/she needs the mod so badly id say why not... in the end more modders would actually be mentally forced to do it... and if i look at some mods especially the morrowind mods, they reach a level of detail and love put into it no game could ever offer (compare vanilla oblivion textures to mod ones for xample) and could only benefit from it and also train modders for the stress theyll be introduced to once they join the ranks of proffesionell model/texture/scripte,etc makers

btw joegenius4557 said it was illegal... prolly to save for his next sword :P (i tell you the jews :P worse than scots... just to stay stereotyped lol)

Again with the Jew-bashing! Will it never end, lol. Actually I'd just assumed it was nice to offer to pay for a modder's time but then, on the Bethesda forum, I got yelled at from all sides for offering. They said that not only was it illegal but it was insulting because people do this as a hobby and it shouldn't be turned into a business, or something like that. I guess this forum and that one are made up of different crowds... Then again, nobody Jew-bashes me there

By the way, is there someone out there who does Oblivion faces? I use FaceGen and FaceGen to Oblivion Converter, which worked for my face, but when I try doing my wife's (three times) it never looks like her. I even tried copying slider settings with and without the slider number mod. Nothing works. I posted a question on the Bethesda forum asking if there was a better program but all someone posted was this hugely long process using the official version of FaceGen plus some other programs which I have no time for.

well facegen is the proggie the game uses and the developers used... and ya it sucks... believe me i ususally smoke some bliffs when making a char but at the facegen i tend to hang around for more than one...two...three...and then just say ok even tho im not fine with it... and if you make one for your wife i bet youre never fine as no computer proggie can capture the beauty of a wife anyway...

After I get my 300ZX I'm gonna design/buy a sword of JP. I was looking through his work and most of it is amazing (most, some of it like the first knife are just a little strange for me).

I found this picture while on the site.

Is that your letter? Just wondering if you designed the sword from scratch. If so good job.

Also Mara (cool name, like the goddess which I presume is a coincedince.) can ?she? be hooked onto a belt?

Edit: Why is paying for a mod (related thing) illegal?

obviously its joes letter and sketches made by powning to show how dedicated he is i guess... and like all good artists he has a lil travel sketchbook too...

the scabbard has 2 hooks which are presumely thought to be used as a belt attachment tool

paying for mods as being illegal was stated at the beth forum... prolly cause mods that use stuff from the game use somin beth owns and thus cant be sold without a licence... but i cant see why paying for a mod like this one should be illegal in any way since its all original work xcept for the textures for which powning owns the rights and would need to get a share

as to him making a sword for you, thatll be difficult as hes not making any commisioned ones anymore atm :(

I told him the style and what I wanted on the sword (the bull and lion heads and the engraving) and he designed the sword around that. And yes, that is my letter to him.

It's a total coincidence that there is a goddess in the game named Mara.

If you look on the pictures of the completed scabbard you'll see two hooks. They hook into rings on a sword-belt.

And with regard to paying for mods, I'm not sure it really is illegal but I got yelled at on the Bethesda forum for offering becuase they say it is.

His email address is [email protected] . If you do make other swords please send me a link to them. His newest one, The Black Uljake, is gorgeous!

Let me correct myself. The letter is mine, not the sketches.
