[help] Sword texture replacer/override

Hello,

I would like to know if it is at all possible to use a mod's texture on a separate vanilla sword.

The mod in question is this (https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1166), a mod that creates a custom texture for the sword "Longclaw" (http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Longclaw) and makes it resemble Jon Snow's weapon from GoT.

I'd like to simply apply the mod's texture to Geralt of Rivia's sword (http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Geralt_of_Rivia%27s_sword), which you get from participating in the tourney.

My reason for this is that I want to keep the Geralts sword stats and name but I find it very ugly, whereas the aforementioned mod looks exquisite.

Does anyone know how I should go about doing this? I have Modkit and Modkitchen downloaded but don't really know how yo use them properly.

Many thanks in advance!

So...

I uncooked both the Longclaw mod (so I could see the equip_template used for the sword) and the B&W folder (DLC/bob), and once I knew what the equip_template was for Geralt of Rivia sword, I changed that, and only that, to be the same as longclaw. I did the same for the one in gameplay/items/def_item_weapons and the one in gameplay/items_plus/def_item_weapons so as to edit both in base and NG+ modes.
Then I tried building the mod with those files and it seems everything went along nicely. But once I installed the mod via ModManager it seemed to be ok and there were no conflicts but nothing happened in game. I tried loading my save with the sword and also tried loading an earlier save and spawning it via console: alas, nothing. I spawned the Longclaw sword and it has indeed changed, but Geralt's sword, completely unchanged.
I tried doing this twice, once building the new mod with only the two files I actually modified, once with every file that was uncooked from the dlc folder, neither worked...
If anyone could point out what I did wrong, I'd be very thankful.
