LanyontheMad
I think a lot of the perks in this game are useless. They need to be scrutinized a little more and they definitely don't jibe with a hardcore play through. I think the general philosophy of perks in all games, but specifically this one, should focus on rewarding skilled players, not making the game easier as you get better. Obviously you are not forced to pick perks, but a lot of them are just carrots on sticks and could be replaced by systems that actually improve the game for skilled players. For example: Revenant: passive health regen.........why? its pointlessLight Armor: not wearing plate armor=50% easier to dodge strikes....just make armor scale correctly and let my skill decideThickblooded: bleed slower....unnecessaryFirm Grip: shield blocks cost opponent 15% more stamina.....your kb+m shield skill progression should be sufficient, filler perkBerserk and Blood Rush....no commentEverything in the Warfare tree (excluding Bailman & Feint).....just no, all filler nerf material, lets get a little more imaginativeThere are others...Most of the perks in the "Skill" trees are fine, make the game more enjoyableThe ability perks & combos are good.I like the tradeoff perks: gain 20% here but lose 10% here and here.Ideas for useful perks that reward skilled players and make the game more enjoyable:Need an archery tree: Pin in Place: temporarily immobilize enemy with foot shot + non-plate boots, other precision/skill shot perks.Arrow Crafting: fire arrows (near campfire, etc) , other realistic stuffMaces and axes: Stole My Ballons: strike to plate helmet has chance to lodge weapon, basically zombifying that opponent, but lose weapon.Mine, Mine: Lodge weapon into wooden shield and disarm shield.Catch This: Throw weapon at head = immediate KO, possible death depending on headwear. These may require an easily retrievable secondary melee weapon. Those are just a few, I'm sure you guys can come up with more, better. Also, I hate to be the guy dropping mod requests with no modding skill or time to learn, but I am. I imagine some of these with be difficult/impossible with out further tools from Warhorse, but just wanted to plant a seed for a better perk rework. IGSpelly
I agree that we need to fundamentally rework the perks. The pin in place is a very good idea. It allows crowd-control without impacting the 1v1 difficulty. Ofc, it is rather pointless when you take half a year on you to change weapon. Additionally, pressing or holding certain keys removes the ability to change weapons at all. Perks like faster weapon unsheath speed. Perks like negating enemy attacks for a short time, etc etc. The combat is the best I have played in a open world, tbh it has the biggest potential of any I have played in a single-player game. But there are problems. Power-creep, master-strikes dominating late-game melee combat.
