ShylaEighteen
It seems everyone misunderstood the point of this text. I was being sarcastic. Once again, the first part was about those who call others "Noobs" This DOES bother me and i was being SARCASTIC about them being all cool. I don't mind someone saying "here maybe this tutorial could help" but not something along the lines of twice in every sentance. And the second part was SARCASTIC as well. I was trying to make u all think i'm crazy/phsyco as a joke. BECAUSE i really do appreciate any and all help. but the point of this did come true. I have heard many people complain about not getting the help they need. So i used some of the things they said that was "making fun of" the people who couldn't get around to that one in say 3000 posts like the one guy on here. And so i said all this and exactly what i expected/hoped would happened, came true. You all stood up and gave the explanation why you couldn't get around to that 1 mod even though u've been through hundreds or even thousands. It's because you are doing your best and that is all i ask, but now for the people that complain about not getting their help, now you can read a bit of commen sense reasons of why not every question is answered. vagrant lists it perfectly. Each topic takes time, that person may or may not know how to help you, their are plenty of other topics that could pop up when they go browsing to help any topics they can before urs, etc. And vagrant it is true. Their is tons of frequently asked questions on the forums that have been answered countless times. And it would be better if people just looked through but most people wouldn't bother knowing theirs tons of topics and even more replies on each one, that could take weeks looking through only to find out what ur looking for isn't their. On the toast part (third paragraph) i was actually NOT being sarcastic and really was giving a toast or kudos or whatever u want to say to those that take their time out of their lives to be selfless (Pls don't mistaken for selfish) and help complete strangers. on the bottom part which i posted after the few topics, and or the one paragraph that seemed nobody bothered to read at that point. I will repeat. "Nerd" can be an offensive word. but i will admit with no shame that i AM a hardcore nerd and will be for as long as their's a computer in my house. and honestly i love "Nerds" because jocks and pretty girls in school are full of it and do nothing but push the ones smaller then them. where as "Nerds" you can know nobody in that school or office or whatever, and you can go right up to them and start a conversation. Nerds FTW in my book. And In my beliefs, everyone calls us out because we are albino, have zits, are over weight or whatever. But i'd rather be any and even all of those things then someone that goes out partying every night getting wasted and having one night stands with whomever i see that has a nice "wiggle". Same goes for drugs, breaking the law, being in gangs (cowards i say) or whatever else. I think though maybe not as thrillng at times, being a nerd is much better for yourself, your family, and the community. . I really hope people can see what my point of starting this controversy was. If i have to be hated for it so be it. But next time anyone complains about not getting help, just type in this url and ignore them.
DirTek
A toast to all of the hardcore nerds out their that help us Mentally Challenged >>Noobs<< when they could be doing millions of other things for their own benifit/profit. Thank you all. So if I tried to help you I am a hardcore nerd? Also...I don't like calling people "NOOBS" because I was once a "NOOB" too. If I am a nerd for trying to help people....thanks  ...glad to hear it. Edit Ok...I think I understand now :) Cheers  Maafiaman
jaysus
one person is clever... social, devoted and loving... some people are powerful social, devoted and loving... but a damn lot of people are just idiots trying to reach the bush first...thus its all the girls fault as always... no women no cry... but also no joy... its wicked as a genious mind once said...thus either get over it and get on or run amok and take as many with you as possible... or just be an idiot too... thats the easy way...if you really cant stand it and want that to change i suggest you read some buddhist stories for example... basicly as much as possible from as many different cultures as possible and then... maybe... youll see the light and know your path... the true path... and once you followed it youre ready to become a leader... one that all can look upon and reflect on themselves, realizing their misdeeds, their goods and thus make earth a better place for all of us, man, monkey and microbe... but i can also understand the people who say look up the tutorials as most of the asked questions could be answered by themselves if all wannabe modders would just look up these damn tutorials that are stickied on every page... its much faster than posting in here anyway if you know what you are looking for... otherwise aksing wont help you much anyway... if you cant articulate yourself how are others supposed to understand your problem?... when i started modding there were no tutorials... hell there wasnt even an internet as we know it today lol... you had to read the tools manuals (if there were any) which were mostly written by people who probably never talked to another living person but yet many managed to get somin out of it... its a thing of sheer will... if you have no will, asking here is pointless... as is answering cause the person youre trying to help will prolly stop modding anyway after they realize how much work it is... but also, if you know its pointless to answer just dont... easy as that... buddah
Well, I usually don't post in threads, but I will let you in on a little secret....there are over 600,000 members and less than 10% have ever made a post. Just over 8,000 have read the rules of the forums and the site. Those that are active members on our community forums are here because they choose to be here.....no one has all the answers, but as a community we do. No one is compelled to help, but most do if they have the appropriate answers....the big reason for that is that we were all noobs at one time and at one time or another asked for help and got it. Now we repay that help by helping someone else, usually a stranger we have never met and probably never will and the cycle is renewed. Perhaps I have a high expectation for humanity, but it is proven we do rise to the occasion more often than not.
bben46
Some one has to make the tutorials. That's us ex noobs who had to learn the hard way and are trying to make it easier on the next batch of noobs. We do this because we enjoy helping noobs. Not because it makes us feel superior. Because we are not superior, just more experienced. My tutorials are located here: http://s1.zetaboards.com/TheStormRavenLibrary/forum/256092/ They aren't perfect and anyone is welcome to post corrections, additions or their own tutorials to them. Vagrant0
First off, do you know how many times some things have been asked? Seriously, it's atleast once a week that someone complains about their ground texture being replaced by a small IC map. It's atleast twice a week that people ask about those little exclaimation marks. If someone spent all their time and energy answering, and re-answering those same questions over and over again, they would likely go crazy. Good answers have already been given once. What is the point of sitting down and re-explaining it every single time? Do you realize how much time it took for me to answer your little thread here?http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=64204&hl=Roughly 1 hour. I know because I was also sitting around waiting for my regions to generate. And if I actually knew anything of value about blender it would have probably taken me much longer. Second, do you know why people mention tutorials? It's because either they don't have all the information memorized themselves, can't be bothered to search for it, or because what is said in those tutorials is far better than anything they could bother to spend the time sticking in a post that nobody else would bother searching for next time that issue came up. Sorry, but neither I, nor anyone else around here is obligated to sit down for 2-5 hours to lead someone step by step through a process. We aren't being paid, and as much as it may hurt to hear, neither you, nor anyone else is that important. When it comes to something as vast and common as blender, doing so would quite probably be a waste of effort since there are so many friggin tutorials for blender already out there. Third, just because you are frustrated over being unable to find what your looking for doesn't give you the right to get all high and mighty. Most of my 3000 or so posts were earned helping people out around here, answering specific questions, or directing people where they need to look. Admittedly, I didn't guide anyone by the hand, and spell things out in big shiny letters, but I guess that's because I expect people to actually think about things, rather than have everyone just drop exactly what they need in their lap. Modding is something which only those who are mentally capable should do, and when too much specific help is given, the results tend to be of the nature that just screws over things for everyone else. If some aspect isn't something that you are able to learn and work with, there is nothing wrong with that. There are modders who can't script worth a damn, but can create stunning landscapes and interiors. There are people who can script, but can't do textures or meshes. There are people who can do textures or meshes, but are totally hopeless within the CS. There is no shame in not being able to learn how to model stuff, there is shame in taking out your frustration on those who might be trying to help you. Fourth, unless people mention what tutorials they were using, or where they found them, the quality of information within those tutorials cannot be validated. For something like blender, a google search will pull up good tutorials, outdated tutorials, and downright horrible tutorials. Without knowing what you have tried, or where you are looking, not much direction can be given, and it is often precieved that the person who is asking didn't even bother to look and was just looking for attention or a step by step guide. Going from the posts you've made in the last day or so, you don't mention a damn thing, and people still tried helping you. Maybe I'm not looking back far enough, but I havn't seen any comments which are as useless as just "go find a tutorial", most have suggested places to look, or offered some additional steps to try, when there aren't very many regular posters who use blender, you can't really expect too much more. And as far as the "noob" thing goes, almost all uses of the word "noob" are either people referring to themselves, or are made as file comments. Nobody of any intelligence would use that as a response on the forums, in a serious manner, least of all when someone is asking for help. Not even Peregrine was so inconsidderate. Finally, we all started somewhere. The difference is that rather than female dog and complain about how there isn't any information on what we're trying to do, we sat down and spent the time figuring it all out, learning as we went. Now in all fairness, this is not a skil which everyone posesses, but nearly everyone can do it to some degree if they put their mind to it. And the more you do it, the more comfortable you are doing it, the faster you can usually get results. If what you want to do has obviously already been done, there has to be a means of doing it. You just have to be willing to either look for that means within the range of available options, or spend the time and effort retracing the steps of others. You cannot expect to learn all there is about a program like blender in 16 hours, let alone 16 days. Even with tutorials or someone litterally sitting beside you pointing out everything. Tamujiin
You should never go off about people who help someone. As stated earlier i was once a noob. A big fat noob. Did even know how to install a mod. alot of people dont because it is so fricken easy it is stupid easy. Getting mad because people help each other out is assinine. But then again babieing everybody is also assinine. Think of it like this. This is one of the best forums on all of the internet because 99 out of 100 of the people that come here are not jackasses. if you need help with something give it a day and you will probably have your problem solved and a majority of future problems you wont expect because people take the time to tell you about other problems. If it wasnt for the nice people like BBen46 and vagrant i wouldnt have hanged around here long enough to post 20 posts let alone 300 something. And the Moderators, dont let me get into the fine job they do. I have posted it many times..................Do a search, or research it or something. Quit complaining about how "good" things are here.
ApocalypticBiscuit
its simple. the very reason we are helpful on here and arent in public is because we dont ask for identity, we cant see each other, so we can be ourselves, our nerdy, game-loving, helpful selves, and nobody can say a damn THING ABOUT IT. ps. I love the internet

macmert
So you are angry because people dont answer to your posts? (Sorry it was too long for me to read :D) if that is the case, well that is life, if you cant find an answer "google" it or do something, instead of screaming and kicking like a 10 year old suck it up, grow up and try to find your answers... But I have to admit the search engine in the forums is horrible, every time I used it I needed to post my question cause when I search something up the search engine search the words in the posts... or maybe I dont know how to use the search engine :D So see now we bothered to answer your questions :D And I am not a nerd, I dont see myself as a nerd and the thing is I dont give a damn about the opinions of people, hell I dont give a damn about people, they might see me as a nerd but who cares, who cares if someone calls me a nerd? sticks and stones I say... Sorry I got a bit drifted there :D anyway I got a bit off topic or what? oh whatever, so I say grow up a bit ;)
