ShylaEighteen
So some novice was asking about making a carrige bus transportations system that npcs can ride and is scheduleds and has a 10% of being robbed by road bandits. I have ocd "yes i'm a freak, bite me" and i feel like i need to help u. It always sucks when you get hyped up on modding and your first ideas get stomped into a puddle. First things first, you said that you would like to have two horses to every carrige. The replies at that time were telling you they didn't think it would be possible. well what you have to do is in whatever object/creature design program u use, or that others would recomend, you need to put two horses side by side. the trick is they have to act as one creature. think of it as if you were giving a 4 legged creature double the legs, and double the horse power heh. you can' merge the horse animations into one, or so i theorize, you need to use one of the horses animations and make it so that every time one horse moves, the other one moves as well. You can make them look profesional if you want (right foot, left foot, right foot, left foot) but i say everytime the left horses hoof moves the right one's should be oposite. preferably not exactly opposite but maybe timed to happen 2/5ths of the way through the other horses full animation cycle. you can even make 4 hourse carriges, just keep in mind more movement, more objects mean more lag/ more likely crashes. more movement such as double, or 4x the legs moving and head's bucking. more objects is things like more detail, more things that whoever's computer has to process when happening. or even when idle. About the seeing npc's use it, i'm sure you can put one on the entire object. 2 skeletons on a ridable objects at a time i have never seen before however. also the fact of "rest stops" and end of the line areas where they would get on and off, i'm posative it's doable, the guard horsemen have a trigger that if they ever see danger they >>get off<< their horse and go to it. so i'm sure you can find some sort of trigger method that once you reach this or maybe once you get off of the carrige, the rest will get off as well. along with the more horses =more lag the same goes for how many poeple will be in screen (on/around the wagon) at a time. Also i have seen npcs have a daily schedule of going from shops, to talk with people they bumb into, to eating, to sleeping. but consider u will have four or so people get off the wagon and inhabit whatever town they are at. I have never seen multiple npcs go clear from one town to another and seem as if they know what walls, water and such is. the only thing i can think of to help with this, is maybe have a few (preferably most or all) of the npcs get off the wagon one at a time on the way their. maybe their explorers that want to be let of at some point along the road between towns, and vanish once you are gone. Your explanation can be "Hey they were explorers, lions could've eaten them, they could've been target practice for darts in a nearby dungeon, who knows, it's up for the players mind to decide." and also i don't recommend they all get off at the same time since you might get frowns on that, maybe have 1 off every 5 mins or so or every rest area. (btw by rest area i mean like those things on interstates where people pull into and get out of their vehicle and stretch their legs.) hope this was somewhat helpful and if anyone tells you you can't do it, just remember anything is possible with computer programs. it's just the impossible takes longer to unpuzzle. bben46
While some seem to think this is impossible, I have sen several impossible mods happen. There are some good ideas here, 2 horses as one creature is one. It will still require a lot of work though. Kudos to Shyla for thinking outside the box.
