thiosk2 Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 So perhaps I should stick this in the mod section, because the reason I'm asking is for kvatch aftermath and companion share. NEVERTHELESS How do skills on NPCs, specifically guards, work?If the guy is carrying around a blade, and I deck him out with a blunt weapon, will he be sufficiently trained in blunt to use it effectively? Or is he just going to flail it about like a nincompoop. *do note: I never really... use weapons. So I don't really know how they work. I roleplay as an evil wizard
Vagrant0 Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 All weapon skill is is how much damage that weapon does, and what sort power attack bonuses the user has. Someone who has more skill with a weapon, than fists, will still hit their target with the same frequency, they will just deal alot less damage, and not be able to do all the special little weapon perks (that aren't really needed for vanilla spawns). As far as NPCs go, their skills are determined primarily by their class and level. This means that most NPCs only have 8 skills that they are particularly capable at. This changes from one NPC to another, and tends to be static for all but leveled NPCs (bandits). Generally, the weapon they are spawned with is usually the one they are best with. On quick way to tell is to check their weapon skills (getav blade, getav blunt) using console. Or if you have both a blade and a blunt of roughly the same strength (longsword or mace) they will equip the one that they have the most skill with.
