Samii
Alright, I have a few questions/problems with Oblivion. There are a good few, and they all range in the boards. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: So, since this one is pretty much the basic board of all of them,I decided to use it. First of all,Does anyone know a partner mod that actually works? When I tried to install the one here, it wouldn't work in my mod manager.(I'm using Oblivion Mod Manager.) This is the companion thing I tried to use.(http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7819) When I try to make the mod it says that the files aren't right. Also, what's the point?(This isn't meant to sound rude.) I understand that the downloadable partners are attractive, but is there anyway I can make MY character into a partner or an NPC to recruit? (I'd just much rather just have her.) That way I may use her with another character for whatever.(I have tons of poses, that I can only use with touch.) So, to wrap it all up..Can anyone hook me up with a companion mod that works? Also, is there anyway I could make one of my ladies on oblivion into a partner. Thanks for reading. :thanks:
Avatier
Toaster's Share and Recruit is a good one, but this allows anyone and everyone avaliable to be your partner, including people like Adamus Phillida and such. If you want to create your own companion, just create an NPC and stick it somewhere around Tamriel and flick on Share and Recruit.
Samii
How exactly would I make an NPC?I don't know much about modding, sadly. I checked out Toaster's, but it said something about "OBSE v14+"I have no idea what it is. (I have a feeling I'm about to feel stupid. Lmao.) Avatier
OBSE is the Oblivion Script Extender. It's normally a must for most mods. This allows the scripts to be extended to do more, thus creating more magical effects, orders, keys, abilities, moves, etc. You can download it here: http://obse.silverlock.org/ To create an NPC. Get the Oblivion Construction Set, and then load up the Oblivion.esm. Go under NPC. Edit an existing one, and change the ID, it's the one above the name. Hit okay, it'll say something in a textbox. Click yes, or okay or whatever is positive. It'll create a new entry for your character. Edit as desired, and then double click somewhere on the bottom right, which contains all the areas. Then in the render window, drag and drop your NPC. Now, the NPC is floating in air, this would surely kill them. Press F, and they'll go onto the closest thing to ground they sit above. There, save it into a new esp file and you're done. If you want to use custom races, you'll need Wyre Bash. I'll explain this tomorrow, as I need to sleep right now. Edit: Don't edit any NPC. Load up Toaster's ESM file and the template included in it. Now edit the NPCs with aaa in their ID. That makes sure you won't end up accidentally editing a quest character. Samii
Lord, you're such a help! Where exactly can I find the Construction Set?With Morrowind it came with it, I don't see it for Oblivion. I'm sure the directions will make sense once it's open.Wyre Bash? Thank you so much! Sleep well!I need to get to sleep too. Can't wait to figure out the rest tomorrow.
Blacksnake89
CM partners mod (The one you tried to use) works excellent but you need to have OBSE (oblivion script extender) to work. Get obse linked above then for some really great partners for CM partners visit this guy http://www.tesnexus.com/modules/members/index.php?id=379462. Divine Avenger is my favorite partner creator but some of his partners can be a bit confusing to install for newbies. I myself goofed up a few times with Kaleah and Eluna.Edit: lol Mamba thats a great mod where can I download it? I'm still fairly new myself. I've messed around with CS a bit changing armor stats, adding/editing scripts, and I have made 3 partners for the CM mod. I'm currently "attempting" to make a small scale questline following the story of the Pale Knights. (My partners) Next I may try tackling moddling (no not for magazines). Avatier
http://wrye.ufrealms.net/Wrye%20Bash.html Scroll down to installation. Install, Python 2.5, and then install the wxPython 2.8.7.1 ANSI. Download Wyre Bash and extract it to your Oblivion Directory. The program is under the folder Mopy. Now start up Wyre Bash. Once you opened it up, go into the mods tab. Find the mod with your custom race you want to either edit, or create an NPC for. Right click it, and hit "esmify self". Now you can go into the TES Construction Set and load up the custom race.esm. Now edit as you will, keep in mind though. To add spells, and items, you have to drag and drop them from the side window. Once your done, save your work to a new esp file. Go back to Wyre Bash, and espify the mod. *Poof* You've created a custom NPC ready for Share and Recruit! If it doesn't work, go back to Wyre Bash and esmify the esp again. Load up the Oblivion.esm the custom race and your esp. Now, just remember to set your esp to active file. Go back to your character and change the race, since it'll automatically revert back to "VampireRace". Save, and it should work afterward. For more fun, you could use the above steps, but instead create a race entirely on it's own! But to use the default ears, head etc. You'll need to extract Oblivion's BSA files.
