Oblivion doesn't respond (anymore)

Hi guys,

 

I've got a problem, I hope you could solve it for me.

I love Oblivion, that's why I play it really much.

 

But, now, it crashes each time!

I don't know what it is, but one thing is for sure:

If I save on an horse, and then quit, open, and load the save file

(which I just saved), Oblivion quits itself, with the following text:

 

Oblivion reageert niet meer.

 

That's Dutch (I live in the Netherlands) but if I translate it,

it would be in English:

 

Oblivion doesn't respond anymore.

 

Then, in the same window, I can send a message (rapport in Dutch, but don't know the English word)

to windows, but that (ofcourse) doesn't make any sense :P !

 

So, that's one crash you could REALLY help me with.

 

I USE OBLIVION HORSE COMBAT!!!! (should be working fine right??)

Now, my next issue is if I am fighting.

Example: The Mythic Dawn see you steeling the xarxes,

start the battle BLABLABLA... etc.

Now, when I killed a few members, oblivion just closes!

(black screen, "doesn't respond anymore", same as horseproblem.)

 

Why? I mean... itt hasn't got fpsdrops, it is constantly at 100 fps...

Is it because I use deadly reflex?

Is it because I loaded too many mods?

By the way, I had it before, so I thought let's reinstall...

didn't help me at all....

Then, what also is my problem, but not THAT important,

is my unbalanced mystic-elf character.

For some reason, I kill zombies in NO-TIME

and Goblins kill me in 3 slashes. (same difficulty)

I kill guards in 5 slashes, while bandits kill me in 3 slashes.

 

I tried to balance my level to my blade skill (32 lvl, 54 bladeskill)

with the comment player.settlevel.

Is there anything I could do to solve this problem too?

I would really appreciate ANY help!

P.S. Is it possible to set AA+HDR??

I saw on a site you have to set iMultisampling on 4 (oblivion.ini)

But ingame it is still on off...while HDR is still on..

I'm no pro but to get full support from the pros, you should write down ALL of the mods you are using and your computer's system.

About the difficulty thing: Do you use any overhaul mods(OOO, MMM, FLIC)?

Nope, no overhaul mods at all,

except deadly reflex...(the NO-CHANGE-DAMAGE-ESP!)

Ren's Mystic Elf, Exnem's bodyreplacer +HGEC, KOTN, SI, Viconia Companion, beautiful people,

natural envirements, bloodluster armour, lostpaladins, oblivion cats (love that one :P),

and many more armour sets... could you say me a mod which could conflict and

which I maybe have?

To detect conflicts, if you are using Oblivion Mod Manager (If you don't, I HIGHLY recommend that you download and use it, maybe that will solve your problem) run the conflict detector under the "utilities" section (I prefer the old detector).

Also try updating your game to the most recent patch (currently v1.2) if you haven't already.

A suggestion to get a true load list - needed for troubleshooting

 

How to get a load order list to post using OBMM

 

First, of course you have to have OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) it's available free from the author's site here: http://timeslip.chorrol.com/

 

Look in the column on the left side, find the heading “Oblivion mod manager”

To download, click on the download just below the heading.

 

A new page will open with a list of different ways to install – pick the self installer.

Save the file, the best place is a separate folder you make mine is on the desk top and is oblivion downloads\OBMM. The main folder is called Oblivion Downloads. Then a subfolder inside that is called OBMM)

 

After it has downloaded, open that folder and find the file you just downloaded. It will be named obmm.zip. Click on it to start the install. It should automatically find your Oblivion and install itself in the right place. It will also give you the option of creating a desktop icon, a Quick launch icon. I recommend only the desktop icon.

 

Then the options for associating files – select all of these.

 

When it finishes installing, OBMM will start automatically.

 

It will start with a list of your mods on the left pane in their current load order. Active mods will be checked and inactive will have an empty check box.

 

To copy the load order, look on the right, you will see a box with 'Import/Export'. Click that.

Then select the first option, 'View Load Order'

 

A new window will open with only your active mods listed in their load order.

 

Use your mouse to highlight the entire list, then left click on the highlighted list.

 

A box will open with Cut, copy paste.

 

Select copy – DO NOT SELECT CUT!

 

Now you can close the window and close OBMM (This might take a few minutes as OBMM takes a while to close.)

 

Go to where you want to put the load order list – I recommend creating either a text document or a word processing document and naming it load order and the date

(load order 6-22-08.txt)

 

Then open that document, place your cursor at the beginning and right click. Select paste.

 

This should copy your load order into the document.

 

Now, to get the load order into a post, open the forum, find where you want to place the load order list and paste it. The copied text will be inserted where you place the mouse cursor.

 

This list will help us troubleshoot your problem.

Woah!

If you dont have a powerful system that can handle the mods(I suggest you write it down too) then probably the mods are overwhelming your PC.

if your comp crashes when your on a horse, then a mod that mods horses is screwed up.

if u crash in the mystic dawn cave, a mod that affects that certain place or what your using is most probably screwed up.

same with other crashes.

so, try removing the horse mods completely (store them somewhere else for a while) and play and see if its the same. do the same for the other crash-types. afterwards, you can put them back, but make sure the mods are PROPERLY installed.

 

btw, whats the oblivion cats mod do? :)

OMG guys, please READ my problem..

it isnt at ONE moment... it is after 10 minutes, sometimes 15, and then 1 minute!

My pc is good enough. Specs in my first message.

I saw several possible problems in your load order.

 

DLC horse armor caused some ctd crashes on my system. I had to remove it. if you do, be sure to remove the compatibility patch also.

 

Alive waters - the add ons should be installed after the main esp. However, there is a newer version that includes the add ons and some other fixes.
