Short Version: i'm fat, i need to lose weight and i read somewhere posting on the forums could help, decided i'll try it out.

Long Version: 290ish pounds (6'1, large body build [bMI won't help, i have thick bones], a bit of muscle) need to lose 80ish pounds, don't want my parents to get involved, they only make things worse for me. I read an article that if you post stuff on forums, some people might help (adivce, tips, motivation), so i figured i might try it. You can make fat jokes, i don't really care (not self conscious about it)

so anyway... i've got no clue what to put down here.... o_O :ermm:

if you're like "what the actual !$#% did i just read.." don't bother commenting ;D

Sports .... If there is a gym near use it. ( people can help you there find the training best for your weight) A friend of me reduced his weight from 286 lbs to about 187 lbs in about 2 years (he is runing half marathon and full marathon recently)

In addition to the gym a diet with much vegetables and and rice, tofu and noodles helps and as exchange for cookies and sweets try fruits.

Have you thought about a game plan for your goal? I always recommend steering clear of diets because they never last long term. If your serious, look at achieving your goal through a lifestyle change.

i've got a few steps, but nothing drastic:

1. No lunch ( i usually eat a big lunch...)

2. Less Soda

3. go to a gym (when i fell i won't break a treadmill)

As a goal to work towards, make it like a really good as reward, like a motobike. or maybe a nice t-shirt.

Question: why don't you want your parents know, they could give you advice and help to set up a plan to reach your goal weight, then at the end of it all you could get them to get you a reward for all of the work.

Just a suggestion

Getting in shape is only difficult when it comes to personal motivation and willpower.

It is as simple as exercise, exercise, exercise, and eat a LOT LESS food.

Especially if you're starting from scratch (or even very fit), workouts don't really need to get more complicated than basic exercises you can do without weights and light running. Squats, push-ups, abdominals, and leg raises (feet up and over your head, maybe even touching the ground behind your head). Those are the basics, you need no equipment. Do those one after the other, as many repetitions as you can, breathe in your nose and out your mouth and when you exhale, don't just go "whoosh!" with all your energy flying out your mouth. Exhale and inhale only as much as you need in that moment. You can do even just one cycle at the beginning of one-exercise-after-the-other, then work up to several cycles. When you're done with a cycle (or more), then do some light jogging.

Pointers on exercises.

-don't get overly tense. use only the muscles absolutely necessary.

-breathe in the nose, out the mouth continually...don't lock up your breath.

-for squats, keep your feet slightly wider than your shoulders, flat on the ground and keep them there. toes point forward (more or less, but more than less) and keep your knees/thighs in line with your foot

-for leg raises, keep your lower back relaxed and flat on the ground, don't arch it.

-for pushups, if you do your push-ups on your palms, keep your hands on the down position slightly higher than your shoulders so the angle of palm to forearm is greater than 90 degrees in order to avoid wrist strain. Or do them on your knuckles like fists (good for punching practice).

-do all exercises slowly and in total control, no bouncing, no overtension, no stopped breathing, no muscles used that aren't necessary to maintain form and do the work that's required for that exercise

-while jogging, try to relax your whole body and stay in form--your weight goes straight down like your knee is pushing into your foot (like in squats), don't swing about like a madman with your shoulders, arms, or hips

-try to keep your spine straight when you work, head in line, as this reduces structural strain, makes breathing easier and work more efficient and safe

-try to fill your whole body with your breath as you breathe, but don't strain, and exhale your wastes out sufficiently

That's a good mentality you have to not include your parents. To me, it says you want to do this on your own and for yourself. That's good.

Try to be regular, at least every other day if you want to get fit. Limit what you eat as much as you can, and I mean quantity as well as limiting the crap. Cut out soft drinks totally, cut down on all sugars, and once again, eat as little as possible.

Psychologically speaking, don't get discouraged and even more important while you're doing actual exercises, don't feel sorry for yourself! That is a spirit-killing thought and it will take all of the wind out of your sails. Feel that you are lucky that you can experience this, that you are alive and becoming in tune with yourself as a person on always new levels. Be thankful

Remember, do as much as you can and eat as little as possible. And stay positive! http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/thumbsup.gif
