Kingdom Come: Deliverance released earlier this month to positive reviews. If you're not on top of the latest game releases, KCD is a low-fantasy (relatively) historically accurate open-world RPG set in 1400s Bohemia. The excellent news is, not only is the game good, it's also very moddable even before the developers have released the official modding tools. So for us, it has been an exciting few weeks as we have been working hard to create a home for the flourishing KCD modding community here at Nexus Mods (almost 300 mods so far, and counting!).

Warhorse have not only left open as much of their game as possible to modding during their development process, but they've been communicating well post-launch to try and nurture their modding community and help out budding mod authors. This is evidenced in the main KCD Discord server? where several of the people involved in making the game have been available to answer questions and mingle with the community, which is amazing to see. Not only that, but they've also brought over some of their internal documentation to our Wiki, providing helpful advice on some of the more complex areas of the game as well as a general modding tutorial. We invite any modders who are open to sharing any information they've learned while modding the game to help populate our wiki with any useful information they come across. Knowledge is power after all, and a thriving KCD modding community is great for everyone!

Lastly, Warhorse are busy at work on their first major patch for the game. While we're not sure how long it will be before they can get modding tools out for the game, they are working on making it a lot easier for modders to better mod the game as a part of this first patch. The patch will include a dedicated mods folder (no more zzz_modname.ext files!) as well as mod load orders and manifests. This will be a much-needed stop-gap until the tools come out.

So we've got a critically acclaimed and popular game from a developer who is working hard to nurture their modding community. That's what we love to see in PC gaming!

To top it off, this week, the GOG.com version of the game was released, so now you can also get KCD DRM free!

In light of all this, instead of doing our usual £35 Steam gift card community giveaway this week, we decided it is the perfect time to do a game giveaway. We were going to buy some copies of KCD on GOG to give away, but in the end, both Warhorse and GOG have generously donated us some keys. Many thanks to them! As a result, we have 10 copies of the game to give away to lucky winners.
