StorytellerArc
I have no idea if this is the right place to post this. But I figure that as it is about modding that it is most likely the best place. What is the Quest Factory? The Quest Factory is the name of an idea that I have come up with recently. The idea is that a group of people - modders, voice actors, texture artists and writers - will take requests for quests from people that have strong ideas, but don't have the time nor the ability to make them a reality. In addition to taking requests, the Quest Factory will make its own quests. Sometimes these quests will be completely originally, while sometimes they will take popular weapon, armour and house mods and after asking permission from the mod author. Create quests for those mods for those that like the content of the mods. But want to have to earn then content instead of simply be given them. How does one join the Quest Factory? Currently there is no real members of the Quest Factory, so joining is simple. You simply post that you wish to join the quest factory, state the skills you'll be able to bring to the factory as well as any quest ideas that you might already have. Chances are currently that you will be accepted a member of the team. It is also currently possible to recruit other people to join the Quest Factory, just tell them about the idea and encourage them to join. Though in the end it is up to them. How many people will there be in the Quest Factory? I imagine the Quest Factory will be made mostly of a 'core' group consisting of 5-10 people - myself not included in that number - who's main focus is the Quest Factory. There will be other members that are good modders or voice actors or artists that work with the Quest Factory and will get full credit when they do but also work on other mods and textures. Depending on how well the idea is accepted however the size of the core group may end up small or bigger then expect. Perhaps we might even end up going from simply Skyrim quest mods to making quest mods in other games. If I have a Quest idea and suggest it to the Quest Factory, is that all the input I have on the Quest? That is entirely up to you. If the quest idea is accepted you will be told, then when it goes into planning stages, a message will be sent to you asking if you want to help finalize the details behind the story. Then, when it comes to the textures and the mods itself, another invite shall be sent. Asking if you want to preview the textures to see if they fit the images you saw in your mind when you think of the mod, or whenever they are better. Then of course you can be a tester for the mod itself. Helping to check for any glitch or bugs as well as checking the atmosphere created and comment on that if you wish. If I have a question about Quest Factory, what to I do? Currently? Just post your questions here. Later on we might have a FAQ for people to look over and politely ask for people to PM one or two people about the questions, who will then answer them the best they can. Thank you for reading this post. I hope the idea has interested you and you want to see the idea become a reality. Though not all people will see it this way I am sure. kibblesticks
Errm, not to be a negative nancy... but aren't you basically just repackaging the Mod Request forum? Generally, if modders want to make an idea, they'll make it, and if not, they won't. That's what the request forum is for  Also, modding is a hobby and I doubt anyone will want to commit to a "group" unless there's a good reason behind it. I see where you're coming from, and it would be nice to have a skilled team of modders on hand for any occassion, but that's not really how modders work. StorytellerArc
I'm not repacking the Mod Request forum. There, any type of mod can be asked to do then anyone can take it up and make it. Sometimes not even acknowledging where the idea originally came from. The Quest Factory isn't just about Requests as I've already said. Yes there will be requests accepted, but they will also do quests which they themselves have come up with. Plus because it is a group/team working on a mod. It should be easier to complete, either taking less time then it would take a single person. Or allowing people to go into more detail within a similar timeframe. As well as easing up on the pressure for such mods.
kibblesticks
Just FYI, the yellow makes your posts hard to read. Anyway, you'll find that modders will form a team if they think a specific idea is good enough because creating a good mod takes passion. You won't get modders signing up to a group without a specific project to work on. Because each project would be different, there would be no guarantee that the modders would want to work on each one. What you're suggesting is a nice idea, but it's ultimately unrealistic. Again, if modders want to work on something, they'll make it happen themselves. That's how it's always worked. If you really wanted to make this work, you'd have to become known to the modding community as a guy who gets things done. To do that, you'd have to make one or more really good team mods yourself, to prove you have what it takes to build mods and lead a team.
StorytellerArc
... The main problem is that I simply fail at modding... I can think of ideas for mods and I will be great at writing ideas for quests... but doing them myself? ... No going to be happening...
Korodic
You would do fine if you sought out the help. I train noobs (w/ mics) who wish to contribute to my mod: Night Terrors. Anyways, you're idea is not going to gain support if noone mans up to be the backbone. Besides, I, like many others, have my own ideas which I want to push out to the public. Some people are just more determined than others.
StorytellerArc
Mans up to the backbone? I can do that. though I guess most people will probably want the driving force behind it to be a modder...
Korodic
Mans up to the backbone? I can do that. though I guess most people will probably want the driving force behind it to be a modder...which is what I meant. However, someone who is *exceptionally* good could also be capable. The point is you have to contribute into your own project in one form or another. Otherwise you're just "that guy" whom people will think of as a slave driver (to some extent) :P
StorytellerArc
I can contribute. The story behind a quest is very important...The modding isn't everything when it comes to a quest... and I guess I could learn the basics in order to help... kibblesticks
Then the best thing to do is come up with a solid story, maybe learn the basics so you know roughly the situation and aren't asking for the impossible, then post it up here and ask people to help with it. Make sure you have a really well thought out and detailed concept first though. Also, don't post it in yellow as no-one will read it. Good luck! :turned:
