Converting downloaded mods to ESL for personal use? Viable strategy or problematic?

I was thinking about trying this sometime mainly for simple mods like ones that add one settlement location, one armor/weapon with small amount of customization, gameplay tweak esps. I will have to remove some esps soon so I was thinking why not convert to ESL?

 

Can it cause problems to try changing relatively small/simple mods into ESLs?
