MizterMoonshine
Ok so I've been trying for 2 weeks to figure out what is crashing my game and I think I've narrowed it down to textures or the game running out of memory, I'm still not entirely sure. Basically my game randomly CTDs with no error after loading my save, it could be 5 seconds or it could be 10 minutes. I have tried everything I can think of but no luck in fixing it. Unmodded my game doesn't seem to crash but I don't think I have any major conflicts. One thing I noticed made a significant impact on how quickly my game crashes is the texture loading .ini tweaks. If I set my texture loading to these recommended values with Fallout 4 Tweaker by Bilago:iTextureDegradeDistance0=800iTextureDegradeDistance1=1500iTextureUpgradeDistance0=600iTextureUpgradeDistance1=1200My game crashes a few seconds after loading my save every time. If I reset those values and disable godrays, I can go for about 10-15 minutes before the game crashes. I have a GTX 1080 Ti, 16gb RAM, and have the game on an SSD, so hardware requirements is not the issue. I thought the game was hitting the 4gb memory limit or something but with the modified texture loading .ini tweaks it crashes at ~2.9gb. I recently got my 21:9 1440p monitor and I'm mostly playing with the game modlist I had on my old 16:9 1080p monitor, but these crashes only started showing up after I got my ultrawide. The game uses about 4.5gb of vram at 3440x1440, well under the GTX 1080 Ti's limit. I really don't know what is happening here, I mean maybe it is something to do with my load order. Any help would be greatly appreciated. jones177
Hi This is what I use with my GTX 1080 ti. iTextureDegradeDistance0=7500iTextureDegradeDistance1=5000iTextureUpgradeDistance0=7500iTextureUpgradeDistance1=5000 This is what use for my GTX 1080 iTextureDegradeDistance0=1600iTextureDegradeDistance1=3000iTextureUpgradeDistance0=1200iTextureUpgradeDistance1=2400 I use the settings to smooth out the game. Mainly SSd performance(load-ins). Strange since I use the same brand SSD on both computers.I save my inis to another location & delete them in the default location to go vanilla for testing. CTDs depend on my which character save I am using. Some have a few, others have none. CTDs can get into a save. I have had "character saves" glitch & get CTDs. The only thing I can do is load an old save before the CTDs started. One of my old(over level 130)saves has CTDs in only one particular area(Hangman's Ally). Most of my characters have zero CTDs all on the same game with the same mods. I have no issues with the vanilla textures causing CTDs. I use about the same vram as you do & with the HD pack I use 7.5gbs vram. I have godrays on ultra on both computers. Powerful GPUs & CPUs have no issues with them. They look great at 1440 & fantastic at 4k. Their best use is in Skyrim SE at 4k in forest areas. They do not look good at 1080 resolution. Pixel density is too low. A GTX 1080 ti can run the game at 4k at 60fps with no AA if you have a good CPU & SSD to feed it. I use a GTX 1080 for 3440 X1 440 with no issues. For smooth game play it is all about the CPU. This game is not load order sensitive like Skyrim. I have only had to move settler mods around(not a CTD issue). The biggest issue I have with Fallout 4 is heat. My mod setup will bring CPU temps into the high 90s. With all other games I run CPU temps are in the 70s. I had to switch to a Noctua NH-D15. My only other alternative was to go on water.Your issue does not sound like a heat problem. Try testing with a new character. That is what I do when I start getting CTDs.
