1 Sword Fighting Style

Not sure if someone already made something like this but i think adding a fighting style that uses only 1 one-handed sword and nothing for off-hand would be a good addition to the game like a kendo style or something. I know you can run around and just use 1 sword but im talking about special animations for idle, dashing, different killmoves, different way to hold the sword, etc. Ive always preferred using 1 one-handed sword over a two-handed sword or duel-wielding.

Kendo is a 2handed style as far as I know... maybe fencing? Anyway this would be interesting I guess, although it seems like it would be gimping yourself to not take advantage of your offhand, unless you got some kind of bonus to damage for only using 1 onehanded sword. What would be the incentive against using a shield or spell in the offhand?

When i say two-handed i meant like greatswords or warhammers. Well the way i see it people have different ways they like to fight and different types of characters. Some people like to run in and tank, and some people like to act as a spellblade and use a sword and a spell. I just like to be more of a samurai or ninja type character, and yes i do roleplay a little bit(Make decisions based of how my character plays). Maybe also alter the one-handed tree in skills a bit to have a bonus with it.

Traditionally the majority of kendo and kenjutsu curriculum is made up of two-handed forms, so um...what are you talking about specifically? Sounds more anime based.

Like other said, Kendo is a two-handed style of swordsmanship. Also, in general most katanas are wielded as two-handed weapons.

If you want more one-handed styles with an Japanees twist, I'd say that ninjatos work. Mostly held as a onehanded, some times reverse stance (with the blade going down). That's mostly used by the assassins though.

I do personaly like the idea of the fencing animation though :o

Well its seems i havent thought this through all the way lol, I see what you guys mean. Ok, how about making a fighting style for two-handed weps thats more refined and calmer than the barbaric way you hold and swing you swords.

To what blindness said i do like that idea never thought of it that way.

And then it would apply to every NPC aswell as the PC.

That would cut the barbaric way of fighting, making it more refined. Though Skyrim is supposedly barbaric, yet civilised.

I've seen and used one mod on steam called "Fighting styles of Tamriel". While it doesn't really change the fighting moves, killmoves, etc. It does have different styles that add pros and cons based on what style you pick. Like one is orc based style and you use warhammer and such and it does a ton of damage but is super slow, while you have the akaviri stance that is really made for dual-wielding and is fast...ridiculously fast.

I have also heard of someone (I think on Nexus, don't quote me on that one) who after making a rapier/foil stand-alone sword SAID they were in the works of making a completely redone fencing style for skyrim that you can only use if you are wielding a fencing type sword. I have no idea how far along they actually are though...
