AfroSamurai Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I was checking out some weapons and stumbled upon these two especially fine ones. The first one is a Kwan Dao. A Kwan Dao is a Chinese pole blade that was wielded by the legendary Han general, Kwan Yu(hence the name of the blade). Here is a picture of it. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s306/smee02/W061-T.jpg The second weapon that I would love to see put into the game is a traditional Han Damascus blade. This sword is from the Han dynasty as well and was a ceremonial blade carried by the emperor's personal guard at all times. Here is a picture. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s306/smee02/2005-GT.jpg If anybody could make these ones it would be uber sweet and I would be uber thankful.
Naminea Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 The pole blade looks simple enough but the sword is very decoritive, the amount of polys required for something relitivley close to what that looks like would kill my 3DS MAX program. but i bet you can do a mesh to give it the look of what it actualy is and that might be suiting enough. The swords detail is very pretty though...
AfroSamurai Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 Sorry, no bigger pics lol. Edit: I found some more pics. Hope these will help.http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s306/smee02/Hanwei_by_Paul_Chen_Han_Sword_28_1_.jpghttp://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s306/smee02/han.jpg
jaysus Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 oh no its a hanwei sword :(you know they use mashine forging? and the gold applications are probably plastics then lol...looks nice on a photo tho :P
AfroSamurai Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 Originally I found the weapon on this site http://www.wle.com//products/2005-GT.html . Not plastic lol. Well you would hope not for $1,300.
jaysus Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 the mesh is done... now to texturing it hehedamn i forgot the scabbard lol regarding the price... mmh could be that its folded steel afterall and maybe they used gold in this one... if you are actually interested in buying it i suggest you make a post here: http://forums.swordforum.com and ask about that particular sword and profesionell opinions lol (im just a much too lazy amateur wannabe smith aka noob)the people there know what theyre talking bout mostly ;)i personally dont like paul chen lol my personell favourite if it comes to not 100% individually issued swords is bugei
inkheart449 Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 I wish i had a forgeI keep asking for oneI'm 13 that's WAY over what i think the age level is for having a forgeThat and i am a very responsible 13 year old >:|
jaysus Posted June 28, 2008 Posted June 28, 2008 lol id wish i had one too :(am smithing in the BBQ grill atm :P ... but try the forum i mentioned they have tutorials on building your own forge... from a hole in the ground to a gas driven superforge... everything is there ;) forging has nothing to do with age xcept maybe for the needed strength to hammer the steel for more than 1 minute... the responsibility thing come from the fire you rwork with as well as the sharpening part later on... but if you have a responsible father or mom they should be willing to help and take care that you dont set yourself aflame lol
AfroSamurai Posted June 28, 2008 Author Posted June 28, 2008 I love you haha. Thanks a billion  Edit: BTW, you think you would get the Kwan Dao done too? Cuz I really like that one as well.
