No more dragon souls?

The last couple of dragons I've killed I have not absorbed any dragon souls, they just lie there dead. Is there any reason for this or is it a bug of some sort?

This could happen as a bug ,just kill one or two more and see.

Dragons will eventually respawn at the various lairs after you clear them. If you kill a respawned dragon, you don't get a soul from it. Perhaps you've encountered a couple of these. Even if you were not at the nearest lair, sometimes those dragons come down from their lairs to attack other locations.

Theres a fix for something like this in the unofficial Skyrim Patch

 

"Fixed some encounter dragons not burning up nor giving the player a soul when slain (respawned dragons were not being properly reset)"

Thanks for the replies, never noticed the Unofficial skyrim patch before, it certainly seems to fix a lot of stuff! I'll download it and go hunting some dragons and see what happens.

You're welcome. The unofficial patch made a big difference to Oblivion, I'm sure the same will happen to Skyrim, keep an eye out for updates.
