Porting a custom follower to SSE

Hey All,

so I made a follower from scratch via oldrim, since there is no SSE facegen export I know of.

Runs flawlessly in oldrim.

The problem I run into is converting to SSE. Following SkylaSkyrim's youtube video on porting follower's from oldrim to SSE I get this

on the left is my working oldrim facegeom mesh, on the right is following nif optimization

Things I've tried:

-changing the femaleheadpart.nif used from ECE's to skyrim.esm bsa's

-using Racemenu3 instead of ECE

-using an updated Nifop/Niftools/Nifmerge

Any other ideas?

ofc here's my mods used for the chargen if that helps

ECE*, RaceMenu, SG Female Textures Renewal UNP, Battle Hardened body Mod, Dimonized UNP, The Eyes of Beauty, KS Hairdos Renewal

*ECE was used for chargen phase, but was uninstalled after running Nifop and running into the same problem as above

Did you test the ported follower in game? There seems to be a display bug in Nifskope. Meshes you've run through Nif optimizer sometimes get displayed incorrectly / distorted in Nifskope, but nevertheless work perfectly in game.

Besides that, if we're talking about the same video, the method shown by Skyla didn't really work for me. If it's the same video, she only copies the esp into the SE folder in order to resave in in the SE CK. From my experience, it's somewhat different: To resave the esp in the SE CK, you will need to have the complete meshes and textures installed in SE (at least for the head). Otherwise the file might not save correctly (or even not save at all).

On a side note: Even if everything goes well with the port, you may have a problem with displaced / weird looking eyes. It's especially noticeable on female followers. To resolve this, refer to this post:

And I got it working... CTDs were probably caused by some other thing like unbound textures or something, I got paranoid that things weren't 100% working because I'd never made a stand alone follower before haha. My personal use followers I made in oldrim used All local assets -_- thanks again for the bump
