Advice requested on manipulating mesh

Since there were no Great Kilts I could find, I started my own little project. It's been quite the learning curve, but I've pretty much got the basics done (cobbled together from a few different mods)...except for one detail. For the shoulder kilt "tail" I'm using a Ranger hood with everything else removed. It's on the wrong shoulder, which I knew, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to flip it. I've read quite a few posts, but I couldn't find exactly what I'm looking for.

The back:

The front (Angled so you can see where the scarf is):

Now, just poking around in Nifskope, I think I found my answer, but I want to see if I'm on the right track first. It looks like I can just flip all of the verticies X axis coordinates, then flip the DDS to match. Am I over simplifying?

I'm a complete novice at modding and any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Update:

Swapping the X-axis DID swap the position, not DDS editing required. It did, however, swap the front and back. I'm going to try and reverse the Z-axis pairs and see if that rectifies the orientation. Also, it looks like I may need to attach to a different skeleton point? Ah, the joys of learning something new.

Well...

I read many posts, downloaded blender and tried flipping in it, with various degrees of failure. I'm not the only one to run across this issue, but I couldn't find an actual solution. The mirror modifier in Blender had the side affect of messing up the dismemberskininstance, and I'm not knowledgeable yet to fix it. I wanted to update, so anyone searching for a solution would at least find a definitive resolution, even if it wasn't the desired one.

After spending far too much time trying to fix the mirror issue (It seemed such an easy task!!!) I came up with a far easier solution: hack up a cloak! So, now I have my Great Kilt. Besides texture cleanup and working on pleats (at least the illusion of pleats), I'm satisfied with the end result.

That was certainly a learning experience!

Last update. This is as good as I can do at the moment with my limited skill set. All in all, I don't think it's too bad for a complete beginner,

I updated the tartan:

And pleats!!!! (Well, good enough for me)

Honestly, in game it's pretty cool. That was quite the adventure! Now I get to run around in my new Great Kilt
