And what about the old bag who owns all the bad "guys" in Rften? Need to bump her off the Boss wagon, or all together perhaps?. RustyBlade Posted April 12, 2012 Share Posted April 12, 2012 There is a point in the Thieves Guild quest-line where the cistern entrance by the graveyard is briefly unavailable. Use the entry from the canal level of Riften (through the Ragged Flagon) and once you complete the mission, the other entrance will again be available. RedRavyn Posted April 12, 2012 Share Posted April 12, 2012 Completing the Thieves Guild quest "Hard Answers" will result in the secret entrance being locked. It will unlock once you complete the next quest "The Pursuit". I honestly have no idea why the developers did this, assuming it was on purpose and isn't a bug, since there's no apparent connection. It isn't as though the Thieves Guild is trying to keep you out, since the Ratway is still accessible to you. There's also no connection at all between the Thieves Guild and the DB quest "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood!", so you don't have to worry that you glitched your game by doing that quest. Just continue doing the current quest for the Thieves Guild and you'll be able to get in through the back entrance. As far as Maven Black-Briar is concerned, she's essential, so there's no way to kill her without the use of a mod or the console. Doing so will break quite a few questlines, including some involving the Thieves Guild, so if you're intent upon playing as a member of that group you should treat Maven with the utmost respect. Otherwise she'll hire thugs, mercenaries, members of the Thieves Guild, and the Dark Brotherhood (whoops, you just killed all those guys, though), to put you in your place. Or so she says.
