Found the mod causing my game to crash, need help as to why it happens please

For the past few days, I was having trouble with vampires crashing my game. Everytime I entered combat with them there would be an instant CTD! That said, I found the mod that causes it to happen! Enhanced Character Edit SE! I made absolutely sure it was this mod by having it as the only mod running (I even turned off the unofficial patch) and I even started a new game with only this mod running and still, vampires crashed my game. All that said... can anyone help me figure out why? The only hint I have is this:

"Fixed Vampire Face If you install with dawnguard, vampire's face replaces with dedicated textures. it does not apply to player, because it causes a neck seam. It is the same fix as "Vampire Skin Color FIX". Instead, vampire's eyes do not apply to player."

It's from the description of the mod. Could this be it?

you said that problems occur only when vampires attack , right?

have you tried becoming a vampire yourself , and seeing if your character will crash the game as well?

 

from what I know , ECE is simply a cosmetic mod , it shouldn't have any effect on attacks

 

also , what about the quote from the mod's description are you hinting at? you are talking about Skyrim SE , right? because if so , you already have Dawnguard

so unless I'm just reading it wrong , it seems like this is a fixed remark , rather than a problem

I tried what you said and my game does not crash. I tried spawning some vampires and they still crashed my game once they initiated their attack. Interestingly though, when I attack them from stealth, my game doesn't crash. It must be when they lock on to me... That said I guess I was hinting at nothing then... I just thought it may be something. Overall, my problem seems not to exist once I uncheck ECE from my load order. This is a simple enough solution but I'm still very curious as to why this is happening to me? Anyway, thank you very much for your help! I really do appreciate it.

I saw what you wrote on the ECE page (your comment there) , but I couldn't find others reporting similar issues

on the other hand , that mod seems to not get much support lately , and many users are reporting problems with it

 

so I would recommend two things

first , try looking through older comments , and see if anyone has reported similar issues in the past (you could go to the forum thread , and search for a keyword like Vampire , to see if you find any results)

if you can't find any solution in previous comments , I would simply deactivate the mod , and refrain from using it right now

it could be a result of some error when porting the mod , or some bizarre issue that most won't be able to replicate . but if you can't fix it , just avoid the mod (and it seems like your game runs fine , so a full reinstall for just this mod isn't something I would recommend , unless you really want to try and use it)
