Synstery
Okay, so I think I've got the same problem. And I can't seem to turn off the shadows. I change fShadowDistance to 0.0000 but when I load the game, it comes back to the default 2000.0000 - any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm editing the original, not a copy. Is this is the same problem others are having?:http://i47.servimg.com/u/f47/17/07/14/24/screen10.jpg Edited April 26, 2012 by Synstery
warlocker101
Alright I think I got it. What I did was in the Skryimprefs. ini located in the MyDocuments/mygames/skyrim directory, I set the " fInteriorShadowDistance=0.0000fShadowDistance=0.0000 " to zero. But first before you do that, make a your copy and drag it somewhere else (on a separate usb port or desktop where-ever) And then edit the Original. Because when I did the opposite, (leave the copy in the directory and moved the original else where) and started the game, It made a new skyrimprefs.ini and ignored my copied one. see if that works for you guys. ok you fixed the shadows fluttering but i can still see black scwares in the background how do i fix that
Thynar
Okay.. this is BS.. I updated and now every texture is corrupted, I reinstalled the game, turned off all my mods, coc Riverwood.. Tried updating everything, and the Prefs trick doesn't work, what do I do?! Some screenshots I took in game: http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l507/Terrestria/2012-04-30_00007.jpg http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l507/Terrestria/2012-04-30_00001.jpg http://i1121.photobucket.com/albums/l507/Terrestria/2012-04-30_00003.jpg Edit: When I opened Skyrim up again, the textures are okay now, but the shadows are the same. Edited April 30, 2012 by Thynar
jaderoyale
Change your shadow distance: fInteriorShadowDistance=0.0000fShadowDistance=0.0000 AND change your shadow bias: fShadowBiasScale=0.1500 This is the number combo that seems to be working for me. I am a 2 1/2 hours now with NO grid lines or flashing shadows. (oh, I also reset my graphics card driver back to the old one. That took care of the blank choppy squares. 12. 4 driver was not working and playing well with my ATI Radeon HD 4200 card )
ZGurido
Sorry to bring a dead thread back to life, but I've been having this problem with my game and I'm currently attempting to reinstall after removing all mods and whatnot. I've tried most of the stuff already posted in this thread, but I still keep getting the crazy shadow transitions and the gridlines... Graphics card is ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250...not that great, but I'd like to know if that could be the reason why its continuing or if there's a solution that hasn't been posted yet.
