neiljwd
Hello, mod nub here, just trying my hand at various bits n bobs, some go well, some I just don't get.My issue I'm addressing here, is SKIN in armours. Let me just post a pic so you know what I'm talking about.http://img805.imageshack.us/img805/4338/wqdeqw.jpg So I click the red button, and the render window pops up. This silverlight armour is ace, because the SKIN texture, looks burnt/highlighted in yellow, always matches my characters skin in games. Is this because the mod is CBBE (my skin/body mod of choice) compatible? Is that what cbbe compatible means? Some armours I download though, put in a default skin that looks awful on my char. I can change the texture of the skin from a select list within the CK, but they never match. Is there a CK solution to get the skin to match my chars face, or is this a nifscope thing? *** Because I don't have any programs or art skill in that area, and if it's a no go I'll just accept I can't use certain armours. *** that's my actual question jsut in case I've rambled too much. Sorry if I have, thank you for your time.
Perraine
The textures for the 'skin' are found (for females) here "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data\textures\actors\character\female\". From the look of that texture you have selected "AstridBody.dds" ... As seen after Astrid's betrayal of the Dark Brotherhood when she sacrifices herself to Sithis and her burnt body is lying inside the summoning circle Armor with a 'body' part in them, generally use a LightingShaderProperty type of "5" on the body sections, this tells Skyrim to use skin textures on that part, the skin textures being whatever the current default skin texture is for 'nude' females in your game, over riding all other texture designations and also making it compatible, appearance wise, to whatever skin you chose in the character creator. So being "CBBE" compatible or "UNP" compatible and so on, generally refers to not only the 'skin' looking correct and lined up properly (UV map line up and placement) but of course also the body proportions (breasts, butt, thighs and so on) as well. HOWEVER, some of the 'nude' mods have replaced Astridbody.dds with an 'unburnt' one because that is the only fully nude skin/mesh combination in vanilla Skyrim, BUT if you haven't got a separate folder with a 'new' texture in it, then Skyrim (and the CK) will use the one contained in textures.bsa (i.e. the burnt version) Your best option is to browse through your textures folder and see which textures you prefer and make them your default for all body parts, remember you should try to have ALL textures roughly the same (body/hands/feet/head) to help avoid seams and mismatched colours Edited April 12, 2012 by Perraine
neiljwd
Hmm that picture may of been a little bit misleading, that armour is FINE, in-game the skin matches my face. I don't know why the CK shows Astrids skin it, probably to do with what you said. My problem is with another armour that Doesn't change skin tone in-game to match, and any texture I choose from with the Ck, doesn't match up at all. All my other armours are CBBE compatable, so it's only this one that does it.A lot of what you said was a bit beyond me if I'm honest, but thank you very much for replying :). I think what it boils down to is that the armour is NOT compatible with my body type and that's not something I can fix within the creation kit? Perraine
If the armor is for a different 'body' then no, you can't fix it with the CK, you'd have to get a version of the mesh that is compatible with CBBE UV map. What parts didn't you understand? Maybe I can give you some more info to help you clear things up?
neiljwd
No that's great thank you.I'm only interested in the CK at the moment, everything else is way beyond me at the moment, one step at a time n that, but thank you for answering my query, now I know where best to focus my efforts.
