2 different Notch Axes

Tried both googling and searching this forum, but I can't seem to find any information.

Ok, first off, Hi, this is my first post on this forum :)

second, I'm currently 80 hours into the game (a lot of playing around mods and sidequest), I just got to mountain top outside High Hrottgar (Toungue of the World?) and I noticed the pickaxe people have been talking about. Yea, the Notched "Easter egg" Pickaxe. No big deal about that one really. But I got a very simular item already early in the game (before getting to High Hrottgar the first time actually). This one has the same stats, but the name is different. it's called Notch's Axe of Picking.

I don't understand why I haven't found anyone else writting about it. I got it early in the game, long before I even started using any weapons & area mods.

Notched Pickaxe

Notch's Axe of Picking

Anyone that can share some light on this, or did I encounter a item that should've been removed? This was found in the latest update (1.50.x)

Issue resolved

After searching around with the Creation Kit, I actually found out that the Notch's Axe of Picking does not exist in the main skyrim files, but infact inside Shawkab's Dovahkiin's Hideout mod. That could also explain (and tell me) that I actually started moding the game just after killing the first dragon.

I could've checked this earlier (and wouldn't have to make a post about it) but never thought of it until I remembered I could filter items in Creation Kit. Funny how I took the screenshots inside the mod that actually contained the pickaxe aswell :P

The Notched Pickaxe itself isn't actually an easter egg - its a unique, enchanted item in the game - just the name is an easter egg. Easter eggs are things the developers put into the game for a joke - like Hamelyn and the skeevers he keeps in a certain quest in the game. The Notched Pickaxe is found at the Throat of the World above High Hrothgar and offers a perk enchantment.

I was unable to find a "Notch's Axe of Picking" listed in either the CK or the unique items listings, so I'm not sure where it would have come from in your game, but if such items are appearing spontaneously, duplicated and with a different name in your game, I would think you have a seriously glitched game.

Never played Minecraft I take it? Plus that last link you posted has the Axe listed as an Easter Egg..

You know what the word notched means right? There was a notched thing in Oblivion too, three years before Minecraft was made. Your point is invalid.

Skyrim Notched Pickaxe is an easter egg directed at Notch and Mojang Studios,

in response Notch plans on adding his own little easter egg directed at Bethesda and executive producer Todd Howard.

Notch tweeted ”Adding the Toddhoward Pickaxe to Minecraft”.

-- the two companies were just in a lawsuit over Mojang’s Scrolls which is currently in development..

hiya shotgun188, think i saw a few discussion threads that conclude a 'notched pickaxe' is NOT available in Oblivion,

nor does it seem to be available in the Oblivion Construction Set or Morrowind TES Construction Set.

they/i could be wrong i guess; anyway, i think its cool considering this a tribute to Minecraft creator Markus “Notch” Persson

and intentionally located at the highest point in Skyrim by the Bethesda devs lol.

i'll try to remember to search myself if i ever fire up oblivion again..

I think it's mostly funny that I, someone who isn't/wasn't a big fan (to begin with) of Skyrim (which took a lot of the light away from Dark Souls, another game I like), and I seem to be the only one who gets it.

Maybe I did get it with a mod (but was hidden somwhere along the way to Ivarstedt).

Anyways, I will be checking the skyrim files with CK now so I can verify if it's in either the main file or the the update file.

Based on the names, the Notch's Axe of Picking does sound more like the intended easter egg than the Notched Pickaxe.

Edit #1: Notch's Axe of Picking is not in the main file, nor the update

Edit #2: I guess this topic can be closed now. The Axe of Picking is inside the Mod "Dovahkiin Hideout" mod by Shawkab, as it was listed in the cell-id "hideout". First post has also been updated.
