well I am once again having this problem.

Saves won't load, crash on startup of load. Dragonsreach crashes going in an out most often.

Really have no idea whats going on...

Ok, nothing works. Nothing.

This is the first time in my ten years of PC gaming that I have ever experienced a problem that literally seems to have no answer. All I can blame now is Bethesda themselves as the latest patch seems to be what has broken the game.

Though I must say, before upgrading my computer to intel from amd skyrim played fine. It had much worse performance but it did actually play.

Really sort of depressing TBH.

I have found that when I turn off crossfire the game doesn't even launch it crashes immediately and a window pops up saying "skyrim has stopped working, windows is checking for a solution to the problem."

So my guess this is related to how the game renders. Lurtz you said you have a i5 2600k. That has an onboard GPU right? My 2500k does, and I wonder if having the integrated GPU is causing a problem..?

Maybe.. It seems sometimes I can get in and other times I can't.

What makes this so strange is that there doesn't seem to be any apparent pattern to the crashing. Most of the time my saves would not load, they would work one day then suddenly stop. Today they are working, and now I can get into dragonsreach 75% of the time.

Such a peculiar thing.

Lurtz try turning off your antivirus and seeing if it makes a difference.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried it and went back in.

I have found two things

1. saving of any kind besides autosaves in whiterun will not work. Any attempt to load a manual save or quicksave that is made within whiterun or dragonsreach will result in a CTD.

2. Knowing the above I have not saved within whiterun so now I can load my saves but I have a new problem. Each time get passed the drunken huntsman on either side of whiterun the game crashes. So I can't even go back up to dragonsreach now to finish the first quest.

I am going to kill my HDD. The only thing that makes some sense to me now is that there must be some residual of my old windows files on my HDD somewhere and those are interfering with skyrim. It just makes no sense to me that only skyrim would be affected.

And I swear to god, if I boot up my computer and get skyrim ready again, and this CTD continues I will never buy another bethesda game again. Ever.
