Alaisiagae
I'm running into some problems converting .dds files into .tga format. I used the BSA unpacker to grab the texture files I wanted (I'm trying to do what the Left Gloves mod did, but for Bloodmoon and Tribunal gloves/gauntlets/pauldrons). My stupid Photoshop CS2 says the file type isn't supported, so I go download the "dds convert" mod from TESNexus -- except that when I try to use it, it has errors with the dds files and can't convert them to tga. So, does anyone have any insights? Any fool-proof freeware programs to convert dds to tga?
jaysus
mmmh maybe try resinstalling the converter... it has to work lol... i use photoshop all the time and all is fine... maybe you have that error: "picture size has to be a multiple of 4" ?then youd have to change the picture size to somin like the good ol 8x8, 16x16, 32x32...512x512, 1024x1024, etc and all should be fine but tell us your erro and maybe we can help
Alaisiagae
but tell us your erro and maybe we can helpThe error:Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document I tried reinstalling the converter... couldn't get it to work. Not sure what the other .exes are supposed to do. I clicked on them, but nothing seemed t oreally happen after it briefly flashed some command-line garble. I managed to find .png versions of the icons I want over on the UESP wiki, I'll try working with those for now. I just need to figure out whether to tave the targa as 16 bits per pixel, 24 bits per pixel, or 32 bits per pixel (I think those were the options). *sigh* I just know my eyes are going to start bleeding by the end of all this. And I'm trying to rebalance the armor; took me about an hour to shovel everything into an excel spreadsheet. Thank goodness for that UESP wiki! The error the converter gives is printed at the bottom of the user interface panel. It just says something like "error with file blahblah.dds." You think nVidia has a .dds converter? Hmm, I'll have to check that out. I was afraid there was something wrong with the .dds files themselves, like there was some extra level of encryption that needed to be sorted out before I could edit them. I googled "nvidia dds converter" and found something over at filefront. Worked like a charm. The mod is now complete and uploaded at TESNexus, huzzah!
