sarelis999 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Hello,I have a really annoying problem with Skyrim. As the title suggests, there is a quite a big delay between completing a quest objective and a journal update. For example, I pick up certain item, the quest marker still shows me the place where it was and the journal does not update, after about 10 second, it updates. The same thing happens with killing a dragon, the dragon falls dead, but it doesn't burn the way it should, it just stays there and I get no message of consuming a dragon soul. Though I get the message and the soul after some time. The word walls - same story, the screen doesn't even go all blurry. Dialogues also have a delay when I should get a quest item, new quest or a reward from an NPC. It started just today, have no idea what the problem could be. I have recently installed a couple of mods and I have tried deactivating them one by one and then all of them, but it didn't help. Any help?
fms1 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 I don't know if this would cause that, but check your save game file size for bloat (normal should be around 10kb), I've seen people with massive fps drop from this when it gets 100mb or so. Yes I know this is not what your describing, but these are both a "lag" issue and it's very easy to check. If it's not the case I would then think something is bogging your scripts down and that may suggest a mod that adds a lot of script or have excessive "script comments". I'm not sure about this though, but maybe it will help somewhat.
sarelis999 Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Well, the save games are all about 5Mb, so I dont think that is the problem. Not sure if it is caused by a mod too, I have tried deactivating every mod I have, but it didn't help. I really don't want to re install, because I would have to go through all the optimization and stuff again, and I am jut too lazy for that.Any other suggestions?
fms1 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 If you have had it installed, and played it for a while without this problem, and then this recently started then I would think it is caused by a mod, or a patch bug, or something else that's been changed since. That being said you should be able to fix the problem without reinstalling everything from scratch. Also have you made any ini. tweeks that would fit with the time this showed up?
sarelis999 Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Nope, no ini tweaks whatsoever. If it was problems with mods, wouldn't it get fixed once I deactivated it?
fms1 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Nope, no ini tweaks whatsoever. If it was problems with mods, wouldn't it get fixed once I deactivated it? The only way to be sure would be to test with a save game from before this started, or start a new game, but that does make very good sense me.
sarelis999 Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Well reloading an older save game didn't help, nor did starting a new game. Might as well start re installing, thanks for help though.
stronghold8 Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I'm having the same issue and re-installing did not fix it for me. Any ideas?
Timb91 Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I have the same problem, and seeing that there's no solution yet...
Toxicwyvern Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 (edited) I know im over a year late to the party, but as had been suggested in another part of the forums, you can try typing in pcb in an interior cell and sleep for like a week. This will help the game ditch old jumbo in the enviroments youve interacted and changed. Perhaps this may fix it a bit Edited July 11, 2013 by Toxicwyvern
