[LE] Great Kilt Project- Clean up questions

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

A little background:

I only started playing Skyrim maybe 3 months ago months ago, and once I found mods, I was pretty excited. The mods are crazy in how they make the game feel more alive, so thanks to everyone who has had the patience to get through one and make it work.

One thing that was severely lack though was a proper Kilt, never mind a Great Kilt. I looked...and looked. I decided fine, let me see what I can do instead of requesting one. I mean I figured out how to edit some textures, so how hard can this be? Well, very...but also a lot of fun. The learning curve is steep (What??? I need to download and learn ANOTHER software to do that???) After taking some small steps, I decided to start from the ground up using other mods to create one, and have what I think is a pretty close to proper Great Kilt for the cold Skyrim adventures.

Back. I'm pretty pleased with it. It *moves* like a kilt should:

I even went so far as to figure out normal maps, because, well, Kilt Pin:

So, my questions:

1. What is the best way to port from _0.nif to _1.nif? I've yet again broken my weight slider and would rather not build from the ground up again  I've read some guides and tried a few things with different degrees of catastrophic failure. (Holy crap!!! Part of my head is a mile away!)

2. There's a lot going on in the nif. Is there a good way to clean everything up?

Thanks in advance. This might be basic stuff, but this is my first real mod attempt, so I'm slowly learning how everything plays together.

Thanks Elsys656,

I think that hit on probably what I was struggling with. I haven't added it in game proper. I'm using the references from another armor mod, and I figured I'd "officially" add it when I got everything working. *Sigh* I guess I'm off to read up on how to do it the proper way.

And, yes, it's pretty sweet in game. The back of the Kilt is a cloak that I integrated into the front of the Kilt, so it actually moves like a kilt while running. I'm pretty pleased with the whole thing, but every time I log in I can't help but nit pick about some fine tuning...I need to know when to stop and just enjoy it.

Quick edit:

Reading up on properly adding my Kilt in game answered my 2nd question. Nice. I'm pretty excited to see this all come together.
