thomasv333
I definatly agree with all the other posts, check out the top 100 list, and do alot of reasearch reading about other mods. Figure out what "style" of game you want to play, and start experimenting with adding mods. FCOMhelper is a very handy tool to help you with your load order, you will aslo need a program like Oblivion Mod Manager (OMM) to help you install/uninstall and check for conflicts between mods. Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) is another must have for many mods and it works nicley in the background with OMM. With these basic tools installed you should be able to start "semi-safley" adding mods to your game. I usually choose mods based upon their rating/ my own personal prefrence/ and the feedback people have left in the comments section for a particular mod file. First I have all the official Bethesda expansion packs installed. I tend to go with: (in order of importance, "TO ME") 1. Performance enhancements & Bug Fixes(Streamline, HrmnsOblivionScriptOptimization, Unofficial Oblivion Patch, Unufficial Shivering Isles Patch, Unofficila Official Mods Patch) 2. General gameplay re-balances (FCOM convergence, Marts Monster Mod, Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul, Tamriel Travelers, Etc..) 3. Combat & magic sytem overhauls(FCOM convergence, Marts Monster Mod, Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul, Midas Magic, Supreme Magicka) 4. Additional game content (Quests) 5. Graphics enhancements(Qarls Texture pack reitemized 3, still adding more such as Ultimate Landscapes) 6. New Items, misc tweaks(little things like: bag of alchemy, potion sorter, spell sorter, etc....) I have attached my FOCMhelper load order if you would likt to have a look at my mods list, but be warned it has taken a long time to find and research these mods and they work well on my PC and may not on yours. Have fun modding, and dont forget before you add a single mod to backup your entire Oblivion game directory. And then slowly ad mods and create new backups frequently.
