MikeMoss
Hi I've been playing around with NPC Editor by Foretrenty, and I have a couple of questions. As long as I'm only making changes to existing game characters it works fine.I've changed Lydia, the appearance of the MINI mod character and several other companions. But when I select "Save as a new NPC" and select a location, the NPC never appears there.I give the character a unique name, etc I don't know what else is required. The mod appears in the menu on the game start screen. Anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is there a way using NPC Editor to apply my own texture to a specific character?I.e, can I make my own texture for Lydia and have it only apply to her? I' ve done some that appear universally but I only want to change a couple of my companion characters. I had a 3rd question but I forgot what is was, I'm 73, LOL, I'll come back with that later. MikeHey Mike, I understand your problems cause I've been having a few myself. I was able to get my created NPC into the game, but I don't know how to get her to be able to speak. But as for your problem, when you saved the NPC did you only have the "save as new NPC" clicked? And it probably goes without saying, but are you using NMM? Perraine
When you create a 'new' NPC you should also assign it (or remove existing) any of the AI packages ... Say for instance that you make a sister for Lydia (Ladia?) You'd have to make sure that you removed the Whiterun Player Home Housecarl AI routines otherwise she'll try and take over from Lydia (might be a good thing?) and of course she won't be able to even get into the house! I Did this with Illia once, I dismissed her just near the stables outside Markath, and I found her still sauntering casually towards 'home' (Darklight Tower) what seemed like weeks later (in game time) If you placed her in say, Markath, check the roads between there and Whiterun she could very well be walking along trying to get 'home' or she's dead in a ditch somewhere, killed by a Bear or Sabrecat or roving bandits You'll see this happen randomly when an NPC spawns in an unscripted location, (don't know why it happens) So you'll sometimes see for instance, a lone Stormcloak Soldier running around trying to get back to his/her other two companions doing a random 'patrol' The voice files will depend on who you used for a base, Obviously there is no Female variant of the Farkas dialogues, so you either need to create/replace some audio files for your character (doable with the CK i believe) or start with a female follower (doable if using the NPC Editor) so that at least she'll have the right dialogues, without those audio files the game will just skip instantly over any normal dialogue options in game, making it so you generally can't even talk to the character
