Brucealso
Steam has decided to do some kind of update for Skyrim like 5,747MB worth, which i dont want because of my internet service I,m on a MIFI hotspot with a limited data plan and anything over the limit is like 10 bucks per GB. Anyway i have paused the download but i cant play Skyrim now says im unable to play in offline mode. Got any Ideas??
Brucealso
I will not buy another Bethesda game as long as it is tied to steam, this update crap that i didnt ask for is for the birds, if they want to control my game that way then they should of bought the CD for me instead of me shelling out the 60 bucks. Brucealso
Something i found on the internet relating to my problem Steam updating works like this:- Steam deletes all files which will be patched- Steam re-download updated files This is why Steam patches are so big and why you can't play after updating began and is not finished yet. You can do manual backup (copy/pack game folder), but game is not complete if updating is not finished.
shmimbadad
Yeah dude. That's what I hate about steam. That's why my steam is always in offline mode, except when I turn on online mode, specifically because I'm going to let everything update. As long as it stays in offline mode, it can't automatically start updates, so you can keep playing. Once an update starts, you won't be playing that game again til it finishes. If you're using a laptop, go find somewhere with free wifi and hang out til the update finishes. If you're on a desktop, i guess you'll just have to put it on that data plan. Brucealso
Found this on another website as to how big all patches combined are. "if you want all patches and expecially the HD texture pack 1 and 2 it's going to be someting like 8,5 gig."
